Zhiyan's Camp Reflection

well. there's definitely alot to reflect about this year's camp. firstly, its the first time i'm going for a guides camp without sleeping under a tent. and no longer as a guide. but as a young adult.

first day, everythingg went very slowly, somehow, the atmosphere wasnt like b4. especially on the way to camp christine. in previous years, journey to camp christine will be filled with cheers and songs, laughters and noise and more noise. however, this year, it was rather quiet. and tent pitching was alright i guess. it was the gadget making that really disappoint me. usually by 2 plus, the gadgets and everythingg will be up and we would have started with our activities. but, this year, it actually have to drag until 4 plus!!! maybe it's due to the bad weather? but overall, first day was very draggy and slow. however, once the activity start, the atmosphere's right again!! where the screams of the girls could be heard everywhere i go. even while i return the utensils, i could still hear the screams which is what i've been wanting to hear!!! and what i missed!!! o, how could i forget the lunch!!!! as usual, first day lunch was nasi lemak, with the special sambal chilli, my favourite. x)) and night game. had my very own breakthrough then. every year, i had to challenge myself to walk through the dark for solo night walk. this year, was a complete new experience. not only do i have to walk through the dark, but being in charge of the first patrol, i have to walk in front and lead the way!!! and its not the normal route that we take. but the forest route! honestly, i'm really very scared at that point of time. but, i still continued, being a leader, one major principle is, if you think that even you cant do it, dont make your juniors do it. so i have and must overcome all my fears and go!! which i did!! and at the end, even had to walk the solo part alone first to make sure that e conoe shed gate is really open and station there to ensure no one walks beyond the gate. so yeah!!!!! really glad that i didnt give up but perservered on despite being really very scare. and i have to say, the stars that night was super nice!!!! the best i've seen so far other than pulau ubin. there's even constellations!! x)) the night game ended quite late, then had our traditional milo as supper and there's coh. and we[seniors] slept at 3 plus!

day 2 started off by us having to wake up at 5am, for punishments cum pt.this yr's pt really really very slack. after which, breakfast and outdoor cooking! this time round i didnt really play with e fire. had another new experience, have to bring izzah and ying chyi to chop charcoal wood. why new experience? haha! confession, all my yrs of guiding, i've always been the one at the fire pit. even last yr, weiching was the one in charge of wood and water. so, dont get shocked, but its actually the first time i'm applying what i've learnt at camp. though i didnt touch the axe at all[eye power overrules all]but again, a nice experience for me. hope i'll get to touch food next time!!! since i'm really clueless about how to handle food.=x. though i really miss the thrill of building a huge fire from some pile of wood. and sustaining the fire. and end up smelling like i just came back from bbq!haha! x)) after that, games and more games. had gangshow this time round, due to the rain. sighs. the bad weather just spoils everythingg. was away preparing for night game most of the time during campfire. did sat down n sang a few songgs. and a qn just came to my mind. what and when was my last guides campfire? really cant answer this question. what i can say is i miss campfires! haha. after that. finally the long awaited night game!!! finally another year whereby we can scare the girls and make it as scary as possible!! huiying and me's supposed to take e conoe shed station. had a candle in the middle of the shed and doll and phone there. supposed to use that phone to call anothet phone[emily's phone] and a scary ringtone[i love u sang by huiying] will ringg off somewhere else whereby they're supposed to go. and huiying and me just sat there and make sure they know what to do. chatted alot with her regarding alot of stuffs. really thankful of the sharing, but. after that, my butt hurts!!! and both our shorts are like soaked through with my whole body iching!! but, regardless of all these, still enjoy it. this yr's night game can say is very successful!! since we managed to make alot of people freak out. but was qt disppointed that alot of people actually back out of the night game. the opportunity of having such a night game is really not easy. and qt sad that after we've fought so hard to have a scary night game. not everyone participate in it. what we want to see is not whether you're brave. but what we want is to see you grow and have breakthrough in yourself. and at least try before you even give up! so that at the end of the camp, you wont regret saying " why didnt i go???" while hearing your fellow sisters talk about the night game. and you can proudly say to yourself, "i have done and i have dared everythingg to be prepared!" you only live this life once, if you just waste the chance of daring something, you may just loss it forever, so hopefully, juniors if you're reading, keep this in mind, what we want to see is your effort and your determination, not the end result.x)).the day ended with green bean soup and coh~! x))

day 3 started off with the campers waking up at 5 plus just to ensure that they dont dragg today's schedule again!! qt happy to see the effort put in. but!!! keep your volume down!!! those in the lodge are still happily slping! haha! basically, day 3's all about clearing up the place. alot of last min problems pop out. wont want to go into details. but we managed to strike and clear up everythingg within 1 hr!! though the sec 2s had to go off first, but was very happy that we actually did it!!! very well done sec 3s!!! after that, a longg wait for the bus, sec 3s were to write about somethings. yup. some of which really made me reflect. yup. finally, the bus came!! and home sweet home.x)
