This year’s campfire would be an unforgettable one for me. This was when I would call it my campfire. It does not mean that the previous campfires were not but this year it was the sec3s turn to take over the baton and run the campfire and this time, it was our turn to be in-charge.

I would say that this campfire had many learning points for me to look into, especially when the leaders just took over and we’re still very blur about many things. Then we were told to do up a campfire and I felt it was like whoa! Go and do it. And we actually rushed out the campfire in a matter of one or one and a half month? I’m not sure. But there were a couple of things that I had to take note of and one of it would be meeting the deadline. It was pretty bad at the start when we had to send out the invitations and the replies were coming in slow thus we could not confirm the schools. Another school even informed us that they suddenly could not make it like only one day before the campfire. Another thing was work distribution. When the whole patrol was not needed to do/ finish up the remaining work, we should deploy people to help out in other patrols that need more manpower like gateway etc.

Next about the various committees. Well I must say that we’re still green about many things especially the sec1s as it’s their first experience of a campfire preparation. R&R committee was on task, though there were some problems with the invitation at first but we settled them in the end, thus their main preparation was to get ready the deco materials in canteen and also to do up the refreshment and reception table. Their work started on the day of the campfire itself where they had to set up the stuffs they done and get ready the refreshments. We overlooked the fact that the people would be so thirsty after screaming their selves hoarse at the campfire thus there were not enough cups.

Fire committee preparation had changed this year and we did not season the wood anymore. Well the pit for the fire was too low thus might be hazardous to the ground. Another thing to note is that during the campfire, the firewood should be fed regularly and do not throw the firewood onto the fire. One, the firewood may bounce out and burn you. Two, the firewood may bounce out and burn the ground the school loves. Also fire committee shcommittee should guard the fire whenever necessary. I’m not sure if the sec2s know but I do apologize that we didn’t teach you how to tip the firewood into the fire.

Structure.
The campfire this year wasn't exactly a fabulous one, but it wasn't too bad either. Whether it is because of the lack of time or the lack of enthusiasm, it is time to reflect on them, realise on our mistakes and do a better job next year.

For fire committee, I felt that it was pretty well done. The mace thing was nice though there were a few dents on it. The fire on that day was alright but I felt that the patrol did not guard the fire too well. Reminders were often given before they took action. The patrol should have taken their own initiative to guard the fire and feed the fire.

For structure, the design was cool and done up quite neatly. But the patrol should have touch up on everything before the campfire day itself and not leave it to the last minute. But overall structure was nice.

Reception and Refreshment was good. The patrol was efficient but could have been more cooperative with their PL in looking after the refreshment table. For the reception table, they reused the purple cloth to decorate the table. This helped save some money which can be use for other necessary items. For refreshment, the food was okay but the preparation of the drinks was quite messy. The table was presentable and they were fortunate to have an extra table, already made, to put their drinks on top of. And of course, more cups and less plates the next time.

P and P could have put in more effort in making their programme booklet. I feel that their patrol should work together and not do the booklet as an individual thing. They should have check the printed papers and make sure that there was no mistake before pasting and gluing them so that they would not have to extra work like printing the papers all over again.

Backdrop was alright other than the fact that it was a bit small and I thought the painting was quite nice. The patrol should have cut more V-shape holes on them before putting them up otherwise it would be quite hard to do so after it is being put up.

Gateway looked quite good. I didn't have the chance to walk through it though. However, I thought that the cloth should have been bought and sewn earlier so that the patrol wouldn't have to rush through with the painting and can have more time trying out the gateway.

Souvenir was very nice at first. But when the pink pen started to smudge, it didn't look as impressive. The patrol should have try out the pen first before using it. Luckily, the pen did not smudge that much so it was ok. I thought that the different ideas for the souvenirs were quite creative. Yeah.

As for the campfire, it would have been better if all of us were willing to be more high. I thought the sec 2 and sec 3 dance was quite 'WOW!'. Yup. Even though the dancers met with lots of problems before the campfire day, it turned out well.

Yeah. So everyone, give yourself a pat on your shoulder for a job well done. =))

This year's campfire, Anderson Girl Guides' Annual Campfire 2006, The Medieval Moonlight. We did not have much time to prepare, but it turned out quite well. We had a new guider, Ms Lidia, to take charge of our campfire. We also had a new principal, Mrs Poh, to be our GOH. She showed enthusiasm and even brought her little daughter along. The schools invited were quite "high" although there were fewer schools than usual. The emcees were not very prepared, but we must really praised them for making it through and doing a fairly well job. Well done emcees! The sec2 dancers did their best but there was some problem with the sound system. The sec2s were familiar with their dance steps and their costume was*wow*. The sec3s dancers did put in effort, but i think some of them got really nervous and forgot the steps. Some of the audience said the sec3 dance was great though. (The GATEWAY can be better. A lot of time and money has been spent on the cloth. There was the Jacob's Ladder too.) (The FIRE was alright on the whole but it got a bit small towards the end of the campfire. The fire-guards were not very automatic.) (The standard in the PROGRAMME BOOKLET have dropped but the committee has really put in effort. They had too little manpower.) (The RECEPTION & REFRESHMENT was the most prepared, but the assigned people were not there to guard the food.) (The SOUVENIR was nice, and the committee had worked really hard.) (The BACKDROP was well done, but the size of the backdrop was too small.) (The STRUCTURE was pretty good, but they repainted their swords and shields too many times.) I hope all the sec2s and sec1s have learnt and gained experience from this year's campfire. They will be organising their own campfire next year. Hope it will be better. :) Looking forward to it. Jia You, juniors!

This year's campfire was not as 'high' as last year's.The decrease in schools that came had caused the noise and enthusiasm level to dip; there were periods of silence quite often. The Jacob's Ladder at the gateway was rushed out on the day itself. The gateway does not look very safe and thus there were many people preferring to walk around it. The PA system did not seem to be in the best condition. Nevertheless, our guides kept the enthusiasm level by cheering and clapping loudly. Overall, the campfire was pretty good.

I did it for the first time, I did it for the second time, and now as I pen this reflection for the third time I marvel at the fruits of every A*Guide's labour. This year would be my third and final year when I would be participating in the annual campfire preparations, and that time has come and gone. Being a Sec Three and also being given the position of a Patrol Leader have been one of the highlights in my guiding life. I am surprised that I have been entrusted with this duty and assigned the Reception & Refreshment committee. On top of that, the Sec 3 homework load is proving hard to manage and there were many crucial deadlines to meet so initially I was a wreck of nerves. Luckily it did not take long for me to get composed as I began the long and tedious process of campfire preparations. Getting the patrol to meet up was one thing, getting to know the patrol members was another thing. From my point, most people were not hyped up over the upcoming campfire, probably because the Sec Twos and Threes had their share of campfire preparations last year, and the Sec Ones had absolutely no idea what was going on. Still and thankfully, the proposal was out, without much complications and difficulties, and was approved. R&R did not require much preparations beforehand as compared to the other committees like Structure and Backdrop so our meetings were kept to the minimal. Work was assigned and completed within dateline, or at least was not delayed very badly. I was actually very amazed at the combined efforts of all my patrol members and I'm very grateful for them. :D The day which was going to test us arrived shortly after most of our preparations were done. 31 May 2006. Campfire. To me, it was a day of sweat and work, nothing else. Something cropped up in the setting up of the reception table but it was quickly rectified. However the thing that actually pushed my limits was the refreshment table. Apparently there were many people loitering around the school compound trying to help. I am fine with that but asking my own patrol members who were supposed to be in the canteen to go and help other patrols so that they could stay in the canteen was absurd. Perhaps I am over-reacting but that notion certainly did not rub me in the right way. With sweat, quick movements and time worries, we were ready to put on a great show. The reception table was mannered at all times but the refreshment part was a bit of a whack. The cordial drink had to be made during the campfire and thankfully there were kind souls to offer aid. The Malay stall aunty was extremely punctual with the food so my worries were alleviated, more or less. As for the Sec Three dance, I do not have much input but I am pleased we pulled it off.Overall this campfire was ok. If I were to rate it on a scale of ten, it would be a seven for the overall thing and eight for effort, seeing we were given roughly a month to get everything ready for the show. It did seem an impossible feat at first but we managed it. Despite any tribulations and obtacles along the way, that is something to be proud of and something that will be etched deeply in our minds. :)

Our campfire "Medieval Moonlight" was a success. To others, it may seemjust a few hours of fun. But behind it, is all the weeks, perhaps evenmonths of hard work and sweat... When KF1 and Mynah1 were appointed to do the gateway, I did not haveany reaction. I had not went for any campfire before and did not even knowwhat I was supposed to do. As the days went on I gradually understood what it was all about. I wastaught how to tie the different knots and lashes. We applied the knowledgesoon after when we did the gateway. Although our proposal was rejectedrepeatedly, we finally got one that was suitable for the campfire. At first, we, the sec ones tried to tie tripods with smaller poles asthey were easier to use. Then, as we practised and practised we had to dothe real thing, to tie tripod with spars, which was much, much bigger andchallenging than the small poles. We tried numerous times and finally someof the tripods we tied "passed" for the night of the campfire. For the banner some other sister guides and me went to buy the cloth. For a plain piece of thin grey cloth it wasn't cheap at all. But somehow, wemanaged to bargain and got it at a cheaper price as we were students. Afterwe got the cloth for the next few days we stayed back day after day to paintthe cloth. Some little incidents happened, like the result wasn't what wehad expected but we decided we could make do with it. It was a long andtedious process. A few days before the campfire, we went back to school although it wasa holiday and did the final thing and some touch-up. Most of us were done, some people were desperately trying to find something to do, some otherswere still busy while some were very free and walking around. All of us hada good scolding for not being so united because while the gateway wassweating it out in the hot sun, others were in the shelter and enjoyingthemselves. Before the campfire we were taught songs and we were supposed to singloud. Then for some reason we had free breakfast and lunch and we werereally thankful for that! After some other preparations we were ready for our first rehearsal. Itwasn't a success, but the second and last one was satisfactory probablybecause the MCs had so many songs to remember, so little time, maybe theywere nervous and we didn't help by singing loud enough. The actual campfire was great. Our own campfire! All done by us!Although I had not done as much as some others, I felt a sense ofsatisfaction. After all, I had helped! And the MCs were much much better. The audience was good too, and alot of them were very supportive. We had tocheer and sing and scream and get "high" for it was our very very owncampfire. I did my best and I suppose everyone else did so too. The campfire ended. We had to clear up abit and we cleaned up the reston the next day. This time, everyone did what they could. :) I feel that from this campfire, I learnt alot - from tying knots andlashes to the importance of unity. Although I heard that it was not as goodas last year's, it was still our campfire. As long as I know I did my bestand the other schools enjoyed, I am already happy, although I know there isroom for improvement. But we can surely do better next year... JIAYOU!! ((:

I thought that our campfire rocked!Woots!
I felt that the people attending our campfire this year were not as enthusiastic as the previous year. Maybe this was because we, a.guides, were unable to lift their spirits. Some of our guides were just sitting and watching the show unlike last year.(I was at the refreshment table) This is a point we need to take note of and improve it in our future campfires.Haha! This point may not be as major but it affects the number of people attending our campfire.
I also thought that the announcement for refreshments was not made clearly. Many people did not even know that the refreshment table was in the canteen; very few people came. Luckily, some of the guides went to usher them in. Many of the people did not take the finger food. They only took the drinks. Thus the finger food was still left lying under their covers.
Despite all this, it is sill a great accomplishment for us as we have been able to prepare for the campfire in just a few weeks! There is still sapce for improvement a lot can be done if we put our hearts into it!

Three cheers for a.guides!

The campfire turned out to be great despite the lack of time. I didn’t expect it to be as good as it was as I was discouraged due to small amount given to us to prepare the campfire. Even though the rehearsals for the campfire on the same day were not perfect, the emcees threw a spectacular performance that night. They were not discouraged by the fact that not many different schools were present that night and made the small group of people enjoy themselves.
The various committees did their jobs properly. Souvenir community did great. Their souvenirs were extraordinary as they were creative and I have to admit, if the job had been given to me I wouldn’t have come up with such a wonderful idea. Gateway managed to complete their work though they did it at the last minute. Building a ladder for the people to enter was a felicitous idea though I think the ladder should have been longer but perhaps, it’s alright as there were also brownies present who couldn’t have climbed such a long ladder.
The backdrop for the night could have been bigger. The stage was not attractive looking. I think it would have been a good idea to cover the stage with a cloth so that it will look more like a stage than without exposing the benches.
The signs made by structure were quite nice. The one for VIPs was cute. But none of the signs stood out in the dark. In my opinion, glow in the dark paints should have been used so that the words on the sign were clear at night.
Fire was also quite good but the fire was too small and began dying before the campfire came to an end.
Refreshments were great! They drinks were nice and the food also looked appetizing.
I vaguely remember the names and jobs of the committees and therefore I can’t really share my opinions about them. Overall I’ll say the campfire was good though the two Scouts campfires I’ve been to were better.

This year’s campfire has been quite an experience. Last year, as a sec 1, I did not feel the importance of having an up-to-standard campfire. But this year, as sec 2s, I feel and understand it better and it is just not for other people’s satisfaction but our own. When we produce a campfire, we have to be proud of it. This statement is very true as we will be looking back into our own different experiences and our efforts in the campfire will tell the story.
My patrol was doing gateway. At first we had a lot of trouble with the banner and were very behind schedule. There was the confusion in painting the banner but, we pulled through. We managed to get the structure up with a lot of help from the other patrols. I felt very happy when the whole structure was finally up. The Jacob’s ladders proved to be a challenge as it was not steady but it worked. I feel very happy with all the work the two patrols in gateway and those who helped did. The end result proved to be worth the effort.
The sec 2 dance could have been done at an earlier period of time. Then, we could have a lot more time to practice and synchronies the dance. Also, we could have more people dancing. I think there is a learning point for us here as we can finish the dance earlier and help with our own committees.

This year’s campfire, we only had about one month’s preparation time, and we could finish what we were supposed to do. I sometimes felt anxious that we could not finish painting and so on. I feel that this campfire was quite good. Just that some parts wasn’t that good. Like the gateway, it seems that it will fall apart any moment…and it’s simple. Maybe it’s because we do not have much time to do the gateway, and some of the sec. 1s do not know how to tie knots and lashings. Most people say that it was not as good as the previous year’s for the programme booklet, and I feel it is quite true. I hope that we can do better next year. During the campfire, I feel that the people were not enjoying it because they seem very restless. And our own guides were enjoying ourselves instead of trying to be ‘high’. We haven’t got the songs familiar, so we sang it softly. Well, I hope that it would be better next time…

Personally, i think the campfire is generally alright as i enjoyed it verymuch. But, maybe because I was part of the campfire, hence i feltaccomplished and that it was very nice.Being in the Fire Commitee was mymaiden experience as last year i was in PNP and like those fellow guides andsenoir guides who had been in Fire Comm before, it was quite tiring. We hadto stand under the scorching sun to erect the pit, etc.We had to sun thewood after school, make the decorations, but these were better as we got achance to stay in shade.During the campfire, we had to feed the fire, guardit, but those was not that bad too.During and after the campfire, i feltreally really accomplished.Through the preparation of the campfire, all the Oriole 1st members weremore bonded as we somehow got to know each other better. The preparation waslike a icebreaker as i am closer to the Sec1s now and talk to them more.Though the campfire was not a very good one and had room for improvement, but i think everyone in a.guides and also our guests enjoyed themselves.Andthough being in PNP was better, but i had new experiences in Fire Coom andgained more knowledge like the methods of laying the firewood.

For me, I think this campfire was a wonderful experience. Last year I was not able to make it for our annual campfire, so this was a first for me and very memorable. Although many things were rushed and last minute, I feel that, it turned out quite well. My patrol was in gateway and to me, I feel that we did what we could for the banner. And the gateway as a whole turned out nicely.
Our sec2 dance had many last minute changes and we did not have many dancers, as not all of them were able to learn the dance in time. Next year, I think the dance should be completed much earlier so that there will be time to perfect it and more time can be put into the actual campfire preparations. I hope that next year, we will be able to put up a campfire that is up to standard and not so last minute and rushed.

this year's anderson guides campfire's theme was the medieval moonlight. thepreparation work was quite hetic, given that we r given 3 weeks to completethem. my patrol, oriole second, was in the backdrop commitee. we stayed backto complete and paint the cloth. although we were tired but we had great fundoing the job. i guess the relationship between me and my patrol members hasalso improved all these while. however, we realised that we got the backdropdimemsion wrong, so it turn out to be smaller than the size which it issuppose to be. On that very day itself, we helped put it up and i think itlooks nice. although this campfire was not perfect, but i think campfire itsnot only about that very night itself but more of it is about the teamworkdisplayed and the a.guides spirit we have in ourselves. Of course, there isroom for improvement in everything. we shall continue to work hard and keepour guiding light shine. GREAT JOB!

This year our campfire theme was "Medieval Moonlight". Our patrol, Swallow 2nd was in charge of Structure. We had to design the different placards for each school and arrange the benches.

We had originally planned to make a dragon and a sword for the schools. But cutting up the dragon was very difficult and it was not very stable. So we changed that to a shield. And we made one dragon for the VIPs.

Our patrol was very co-operative and quite efficient but we did not complete our task on time as we kept on having to touch up and wait for the paint to dry. So what we learned from this was to not always touch up every time. It takes up ALOT of time.

The campfire was pretty fun. It was very good! But I think we needed to be a bit more enthusiastic about it. But it was still fun and I liked it alot. The games were cool! Cheers for the MCs! And everyone did great. YAY.

This year's campfire theme is medievial moonlight. Although it was asuccessful campfire, i think that it was not as good as last year'scampfire. I am in the p and p committee. We started doing our programmebooklet on week before the campfire, and I think that this was the reasonwhy our booklet is not that good. I my opinion, i think that we should onlyuse silver as i think that the gold does not look nice on the twine. During the campfire, the performances and games were not bad. For the sec2 dance, i think that more sec 2 can join the dance as there are only 8dancers.

i think that we should have prepared the campfire earlier so that we would have time to inspect all the stuffs and we would have time to improve on them. i also think that we should organise the campfire on non-rainy seasons so the chances of the date of the campfire being a rainy day would be lesser.

My patrol was in charge of souvenirs. I agreed it was kind of a last minute thing. All of us just had our mid year exams thus, we could only start work at around the second last week to the campfire itself. The plan of how the souvenir should be wrapped and decorated was finally decided with the help of the leaders and some of the ideas contributed by the patrol members. The whole patrol was quite united and co-operative as we stayed almost everyday after school until the school closes at 6 plus. We divided the job among ourselves and some of us offered to bring some materials home to complete as we were indeed short of time. Other patrols even lent us a helping hand when they were done with their jobs. We finally completed doing the souvenirs before the campfire itself. It was really satisfying to see our hard work pay off. However, it was sad to see one or two patrol members to slack when the others were working hard. I shall end off by saying that co-operation is the most important factor to success.

The campfire this year was kind of last minute. As a sec 3, I got to be in charge too, and I thought that it was pretty tough. Yun Jie and I had to decide on almost everything from the proposal to the meetings. But I thought that it was a good experience for me as I had some responsibilities and got to make decisions.

Mynah 2nd was the souvenirs committee. We had to work fast as our designs kept on getting rejected and we could not think of any good designs. Not only that, the sec 2s and sec 3s also had dance, and we could not just let the sec 1s do most of the work. It was a rush, but the souvenirs turned out ok. The gifts looked good, but the actual schools souvenirs looked a bit messy and last minute.

I think that we could have done better by thinking of better designs, because the spear turned out looking like an arrow. The gold tape looked a bit weird with the black paper. And we should have made sure that the transparency was firmly attached as I saw what had happened to St Nicholas' one. They had put their best item scroll on top of their souvenir and the transparency had kind of sunk in. It looked weird.

I think that all the committees did well. Gateway was different as they used a lot of cloth instead of the usual cardboard and poles. R & R looked very professional with all the catering things. Structure used a lot of effort as they made two different designs and cut out the letters. Fire was also different as they had a barrier kind of fence around their fire. P & P was nice as the booklet was creative and contained effort. Backdrop was a bit small but they were fast and the backdrop looked great.

The campfire itself was quite good even though the emcees said that we were not loud enough. Quite sad as we had suffered so much to put it up and in the end, do not show our enthusiasm. The emcees were very good, and I admire them for being so brave even though they were panicking, especially Izzah as it is Yun Jie's second year doing it. The games were fun and creative. I thought that the sec 2 dance was different and that their dance was very cute, not what I expected. We were slower last year. I was scared about the sec 3 dance as we were not perfect yet. Zeni was very last minute, but she was very good, she did a lot of work for her patrol and took the time to learn the dance even though she did not like dancing.

I hope that I will get the chance to see next year's campfire, and I hope that our juniors will do a better job than us, and that more groups would attend their campfire.

This is my first time having our own guides campfire in Anderson as it washeldin Holy Innocents Primary last year due to PRIME. My patrol, Kingfisher2nd is in charge of Reception and Refreshment this year. We were only givearound a month for the preparation and i think that its quite short as we did not really have enough time to do what we are suppose to do.At first, my patrol met up to plan and design the reception and refreshmenttable. We drew out the time sheet and divided the things to do between eachother. The next meeting was to buy the stuff we need and we started off afterthat. Although we xhanged some of the plans along the way, there were nocommotions betwwen us and i think that everything was smooth sailing. The day on the campfire was long. We laid out the reception and refreshmenttable and prepared everything we needed. At around 6 plus in the evening ,guides and scouta from other school started to come in, we asked them tosign the guestbook and also gave them the programme booklet. During thecampfire, we prepared the drinks and food and put them properly on thetable. After the campfire, the guides and scouts came into the canteen. The drinksand food were finished in a short time and after cleaning up the canteen, wewere allowed to go home. It was a long day but i think that overall, thecampfire was a success as it went on smoothly.

The campfire was very fun and exciting. As I was doing the campfirerefreshment duty, I did not manage to see the whole performance. At first, I felt so sad that I could not watch the whole performance, but could only watch half of it. But when I was doing refreshment duty, I found out that itcould be fun too. Although I was very tired, as I was doing the refreshmentduty together with my friends and some seniors, I almost forgot that I wasactually tired before that. The preparation for the campfire was very tiringand I knew that some of my friends felt that way too. We helped each otherand tried to finish it as fast as possible. But still, the preparation forthe campfire was fun too as we could make things out of some normal stuffs.I could learn how to make some things from there too that I wish I can usenext time. I had a very enjoyable time. I was very happy and tired after thewhole campfire has ended as the campfire was finally over and we will notneed to be worried about whether we did finish the things or otherwise. I heaved a sigh of relief.

I don't know exactly what I should write, but here's what I think:During the campfire preparation my patrol was in charge of the getway. Sowhat we did was to paint bricks onto the piece of grey cloth. But because oftime constrain, we could not finish painting the grey cloths. So I feel thatwe should start preparing earlier. I have learnt that teamwork is veryimportant, like example when we were doing the ladder for the getway. If wedidn't work together like we did, the ladder would have been a failure. Eventhough the ladder was still very shaky when completed, at least everyone putin a lot of effort to do it. On the campfire day itself, I think thateverything was okay, as in we finished all the work before the campfire.

This was my first time to prepare the campfire, overall it was apleasant expereience. My PL had spread the job equally and fairly but ourpetrol only 5 people so we have to work very hard in order to meet thestandard of CLs and be ready before the deadline that hui xin mdm gave. Our group had encounter many promblems, like our proposal being rejectedmany times by the CLs, shortage of time, shortage of people...Maybe the PLcould let us know what to do earlier so that we need not rush our programbooklet in one week and emm..... the PS of my petrol is irresponsible... I think our campfire was the successful one and I hope that next year wecan invite more schools to our campfire.

I think the campfire went out well. The campfire will be more hyper if there is more guides and scouts from other schools came.I felt sorry for the brownies as they don't know the songs and even after we lead them they don't want to follow. In the middle of the campfire, i saw some of the brownies feeling bored.I'm quite proud of our campfire as it really was enjoying.I think the only problem was the PA system.Overall, I enjoyed this campfire and i hope next years campfire will be better . I will give my best to make next years campfire go out smoothly.

2006 marks my second year with Anderson Clover Guides! This year's annual campfire theme is: The Medieval Moonlight! Initially, when Huixin mdm told us about this year's campfire, i was really very excited! However, when she said we only have like one month to prepare, i was completely shocked! i mean, it seems so impossible to complete everything in just one month! to add on to it, there must be a certain standard and quality in the final product. my patrol was instructed to take charge of the Structure committee. i have completely no idea what Structure committee is supposed to do, thankfully there's the sec 3 seniors: Zeni and Saradha. As a whole patrol, we decided on the sword and dragon as our design to paste the schools' name on. However, half way through, Saradha actually brought up the point that drawing the dragon would be very time consuming and hence, we changed it into the shield. Frankly speaking, we could have finished all the work earlier, but because within out patrol, our time always clashed. like for example, when the sec 2s are free, the sec 3s are not. so we couldnt meet up often. it was till the last week to our campfire that everyone got panicky. we stayed back till like 6-7pm on the last week of our campfire and rushed it all out. i thought we could have done a better job if it wasn't so last minute. i want to thank the sec3 seniors or rather CLs for lending their helping hand. we did encounter difficulties like, enamel paint needs one day to dry. hence, we could only paint the front on one day and come back the next to paint the other. it was very time consuming. another problem was we couldnt find the same shade of blue and white. hence, zeni always got to go to amk central to buy them. we changed alot of our intial decisions like instead of painting the sword silver/grey, we changed to wrapping it up with aluminium foil. we wasted our time painting the sword. we spent quite some time desigining the words too, because we followed Syamirah mdm's fonts, but some of the letters were too cursive and cannot be recognised, so we had to redo them. because we left the swords and shields in the guides den; they were not dry; but because there was limited space in the guides den; we had no choice but to stack them up on each other. the next day when we came, the paint was smudged on the bottom one and so on. thus, we got to touch up all over again. we carried on touching up even on the campfire day itself! it was kind of redundant to touch up every single day, so one lesson learnt is to only touch up your final product on the actual day itself/ a day before the actual day. i must say that on the actual day itself, we tied up the benches, swords and shields quite fast. i want to thank my juniors for being so patient with me when moving the benches to form a horse shoe formation. it was scorching hot that day but they were really very co-operative. thank you! :) thats all for the preparation of the campfire! i shall move on to the big day or rather big night itself! when rehearsing in the afternoon, i think we were all unco-operative and really i must say sorry for causing our two MCs to be so vexed over our lack of enthusiasm. on the big night itself, we were, i must say, overall euthusiastic. but somewhere in the middle of the campfire, many of us were kind of, i dont know tired? suddenly, everyone just started to sit down. but we did took part in the songs and we cheered. i love the games!! :D they were so original and fun!! esp the one on standing on a piece of newspaper! after the campfire, i want to thank the NCC for helping us move the benches and tables back to the canteen. it really reduced our workload! basically, in my opinion, i think although most of out work was quite last minute, we did well on that night!
Huixin mdm said "At the end of the day, we only need to answer to ourself." For me, i think i did put in my 100% towards this campfire. but because, the dateline was nearing and i felt very panicky. yeah and i think i caused the sec 1s in my patrol to feel the pressure. i'm sorry. i'll try to control this problem of mine. lastly, i want to thank all the CLs for supporting us so much; the sec4s seniors who have just stepped down, for always taking off time and coming down to supervise us; Huixin mdm, for knocking sense into many of us and pushing us on; my sec3s seniors, esp. Zeni and Saradha for being so understanding, showing me the ropes and teaching me so patiently how to do things step by step; my sec2s friends, cos we\'ve braved thick and thin as a whole cohort in guides; to my sec1s, i think you guides did really great for this campfire!! :D thumbs up to everyone in Anderson Clover Guides!! :)

the campfire was fun. i was very happy that it didn't rain as last year, itwas raining. this year's campfire, the medival moonlight, my patrol was incharge of the souvenir and i think that doing the souvenir was overall funalthough it was hard. we had a hard time confirming our ideas. we had many ideas but most of them were rejected. we only had about 1 week to do all thesouvenirs. this year, we also had to do the prizes. we had 1 month toprepare but we took 3 weeks to come up with a good idea and we only had 1week to finish every thing. the sec 1s had to do alot as the sec 3s and 2 ofthe sec2s in our patrol had to practise our dance. we did have much time andso our campfire this year was not as good as last year's. we had to rushalot of things and sometimes, we have to bring the boxes home to completeit. the quality of the souvenir was not very good. the transparency on theboxes kept on dropping as we did not stick it properly due to timeconstraints. we encountered many problem during the dance practices. many ofthe dancers gave up half way because they said that the dance was difficultand there was not much time left. we only started learning the dance 2 daysbefore we had to perform. some of the dancers were not cooperative. butoverall the campfire was fun.

On 31st May 2006, anderson clover guides had their annual campfire. The theme for this campfire is "medieval moonlight".My patrol was in chargeof structure. We had a lot of meetings to attend as we only have 1 month tofinish our job. During meetings, we painted and cut the cardboard in shapesof swords and shields to match the theme, "Medieval Moonlight". We left itto dry and came back on the next day to continue with the painting. But, onthe next day, we found out that the paint smudged and the whole thing was ruined. We had to spend more time with painting and also be more careful notto let it smudge again. When the painting was almost done, I found out thatwe had to use the masking tape to tape the sides of the swords and shield, then paint it again. Therefore, we used even more time then expected topaint. Then, some people in our patrol went to cut the letters of theschools and the CCAs and then paste it on the swords and shields. Our jobwas done so we went to help other patrols. On the day of the campfire, my patrol was supposed to tie the swordsand shield to the back of the bench. We spent about 1 hour to finish tyingand also last minute of touch-ups to the paint. Then, we went to help otherpatrols. I went to help fire with the arranging of wood. Then, we finishedand all of us went to change into our full guides uniform. We were allocatedour duties and I found out that I am doing usher duty.At around 6.00pm,guests started arriving. Then, the campfire started. At around 9.30, thecampfire ended. We started with packing up and then left for home. I think that this campfire was not as great as last year's. Maybe itwas due to the shortage of time and also the lack of coordination betweenus. The guests were also not as enthusiastic as last year, so maybe thatconcluded to the not-so-enthu atmosphere.

This year campfire’s theme is “The Medieval Moonlight”. My patrol, oriole 2nd , was in charge of backdrop this year. Due to lack of experience, we did not get the size of the backdrop correct. Actually when we bought the cloth the dimension was alright, but after we sew it, things started to get a bit confusing. In the end, after we bring up the backdrop, we got to adjust the stage size to match the size of our backdrop.

The day before campfire, we had one last meeting to settle everything. We were able to bring up our backdrop on that day, so on the day of the campfire we can help other patrols.

On the day of the campfire, we spent most of our time to tie up the tables and benches. It is to make the stage secure and ensure no unpleasant accident would happen on the night of the campfire.

This year we have the perfect weather for campfire, unlike last year, we could have an outdoor campfire. I am sure everybody was very excited about it. We put so much effort to this campfire. It was the campfire organized by us, I was proud of that. I think we were probably quite tired, so we appeared not so enthusiastic, but we did still cheered very loudly. I think we appeared like that because we lack some body there to lead us.

Overall, I feel I had a very memorable night. Through the preparation, the campfire night and the cleaning up section the next day, I have learned a lot and gained many experiences. It not only helped my to see the important of teamwork, but also strengthened the bond between our fellow sister guides.

This year's campfire was not as good as last year's one, but i feel that everybody did their part. Maybe some did not, but i think everyone did their best. At the start of the day, we were quite enthusiastic as we are looking forward to the day. So everybody put in their best effort for campfire preparations, and things were going on quite well. Then, at about 11am, we started to feel that there were not enough things to be done. That means, we had nothing to do, some of us, as most of the things are done. Then we can see people walking around, trying to find something to do. People began crowding around one patrol and trying to help. That was the same situation at about 3pm. We had a rehearsal after that, at first some of the sec 1 did not know how to sing the campfire songs, but later, we learnt the songs. The next rehearsal was better, but i could still see people not singing. I did not know why. After the rehearsal, we changed into our full guides uniform and dance costume. At about 6pm, the guides started doing their duties and the guests began to arrive. Then the campfire started. It was quite good at first, but later i realised that we were not 'high' enough. After the sec 2 dance, i had refreshment duties to do, so i was not able to enjoy the campfire as much as the rest. But overall, i think this campfire was quite a success and i hope the next campfire will be even better and we have more time to prepare.

This years Campfire was a memorable one not only because it was my firstAnderson Clover Guides Campfire but due to the exciting events that tookplace during the Campfire. I enjoyed myself to the maximum and had a greattime with the fellow Brownies, Guides and Scouts. In my opinion, our Campfire could have been much better. There is a lot ofroom for improvement for next year’s campfire. We could have completed thecampfire preparations if only we had put all of our hearts and souls into itjust to uphold the name of Anderson Clover Guides. The games played were funbut I thought there was too much of cheers and songs.Overall, this campfire was a blast! I enjoyed it and had a great time. I am100% sure that the participating schools had a great time too as I know someof the people from the participating schools and their comments were excellent!

Cheers!

“Medieval Moonlight” carried the name of Anderson Clover Guides. After the campfire, I really didn’t know what the other contingents that came would think about us, Anderson Clover Guides. For me, it was only an ‘okay’ campfire. I generally think that the night itself had pulled down a bit the standard of the campfire overall as it wasn’t really a very good show.
Gateway
This year I think that the gateway was definitely better. However, it wasn’t stable enough as the gateway committee didn’t have time to try a proper one beforehand but I think it was quite good. I feel that if we had more time, the gateway committee would have done up their banner much better.
Souvenir
Hahas. My patrol=))
This year’s souvenir was a good idea. But the reason why it didn’t came out as good was because our patrol wasn’t really sure exactly what to do and we had to ask and re-confirm every time we weren’t sure of what to do. I think that our patrol worked together really well and almost everyone was doing their best in getting things done. However, the problem with the souvenir was the plastic that was keeps dropping from the box. I think we were trying too hard to save on the double-sided tape that we forgot about the quality of the souvenir. What we did was to paste only pieces of tape along the plastic instead of going all around the edge of the plastic with tape. Thus, it wasn’t secure enough and so, the plastic kept coming off. However, it was quite ok.
Backdrop
This year’s backdrop was rather small. It would have made a better impact if it was much bigger and if there were more colours added in to make it look more ‘Medieval’. But overall I think it was quite a good effort.
R & R
The reception table was nice but they had to re-do it because of the sequins and the glue mark but after that, they managed to get it right and I thought that it was pretty.
Refreshments were nice. As what we have discussed on the day after the campfire, there were too many plates and too little cups. So the next time, we have to buy more cups because people are usually thirstier so they drink more. And when it comes to food, they don’t use plates. =))
P & P
There was indeed a drop in standard for the programme booklet this year. Maybe it was because ideas weren’t generated early and due to the time limit, they had some restrictions also like if they have had a very good idea but it takes a lot of time to complete, then they might not be able to complete it on time. So, I think they would have done better if given more time.
Structure
Ooh. I thought that the structure for this year was quite cute especially for the VIPs. From what I know, they had to paint and re-paint a few times to touch it up and that wasted quite a lot of time. But it turned out quite well. The dragon was cute. XD
Fire
For the fire committee, I think they have learned a lot and so have the rest who were there when Mdm Hasniza was teaching them about setting up the fire structure. Actually, during the campfire, I didn’t really notice much about the fire because I was more worried about me, being the emcee. ~hye~ But I heard that the fire was quite small. However, it wasn’t smoky so that was a good thing.
Emcee
Must I reflect on this?..hye..okae..

The main problem with the emcee-ing part was the script and we, the emcees, not being high enough. The script was too short because we didn’t manage to really emphasize the theme ‘Medieval Moonlight’ in the script as we go along. That was quite a disappointment to me.
After the final rehearsal, I broke down because I felt that the script wasn’t good enough and the emcees weren’t good enough. Srsly. It was so heartbreaking during the campfire. We screwed up sooo many times and songs were slotted in at the very last minute so it was a bit messy. I could tell that the crowd was getting bored after some time.
But the newspaper game was funny. Yun Jie and I tried to drag as long as we can because we were going too fast. Luckily we didn’t end too early. I think what was lacking in us, emcees, was confidence and thus we faltered quite a lot of times and our ‘unpreparedness’ shone through. Well, to me, it did. But I like the emcees’ costume especially the tiara :D very nice. Ooh ya. My ‘skirt’ dropped halfway. Ahhhh!! That was so embarrassing.
After the whole thing, I cried again. I’m not sure if it was because I was glad it’s over or was it because it wasn’t really a good show for me. People kept saying I did a good job I did a good job. But I really felt I didn’t. well, maybe for a first timer I did quite good but the campfire wasn’t really a big success. That was so heartbreaking. =/
I think the next time, the script must be planned early and must be planned well. Emcees must know everything thoroughly and they must be high on the stage. The emcees are the main ones running the whole thing on that night itself and it can make or break the success of a campfire.
But, nevertheless, I am proud to say that it was our campfire.
Sec 2 dance
Choreography came along quite well but nafeeshah broke down when we teaching the sec 2s the dance. We were afraid that we couldn’t get the dance right and well before the campfire. However, it turned out to be fine and very good that is. I’m soo proud of our dance because we choreographed it ourselves and it was our efforts, our heart and soul. I feel that we did quite well and for the campfire, I must say that this was the one thing that I was truly proud of and most happy about. The dancers managed to synchronize the dance and our costume was fabulous (; I must say that we have put in quite a lot of effort in our costume. I think our dance is something that I would gladly like to show to my juniors.

Well, for starters, I really had a lot of fun during our campfire and I'm sure everyone enjoyed it too. I shouted and and sang until I got quite hoarse and VERY, VERY TIRED!!!
But there were some things that went rather wrong. Like for example, the backdrop was too small although I think it looked great! And there was the dinner. The earlier meals we had were super delicious (the buffet), but then dinner had to be bread with curry!(I don't eat spicy food) Also, I think that most of the games were mostly about sabotaging people. Not really nice...
However, I think most of the time I am enjoying myself too much to care about it. So I all of our hard work had paid off after all!!! I'm already looking forward to our next campfire!!!

The campfire....some good news and some bad news.

Good things first! The campfire was a success and due credit should go to everyone who played a part...Anderson Clover Guides, guiders and seniors who put in all their efforts to make the campfire a success.

I was in Gateway commitee. Loads of things to do... but very little time to do them. We had to work round the clock...coming up with the proposal, buying the cloth, cutting and sewing it, painting it,choosing the spars and making the structure stable....WHEW! There were a lot of hitches on the way and a great many problems. We came through it all and the final structure made me sigh in relief...Being it gateway this year certainly taught me A LOT! Keeping to the budget, rising to the occasion and taking on new, seemingly insurmountable challenges...to name a few.I also managed to ignite the leadership qualities in me through this campfire.

But of course there was some room for improvement. Our gateway, for example should have been tried beforehand to check its stability. It also seemed that the "high" factor during the campfire was not so high after alll...
Anyway there is nothing called perfect in this world....just close to perfect. And I hope we get closer next time.(LIKE REALLLLLLLLLLLY CLOSE).

Finally, thanksgiving is here!First and foremost my fellow Sec3s who have taken on their role as new leaders and survived! Then of course my juniors who have put up with me and co-operated well for the success of our gateway commitee. Next of course the wonderful angels called seniors who came down all the way and set things right for the campfire. And of course special mention goes to Huixin mdm who showered us with all her love (yes yes...sometimes in the form of scoldings) and made this campfire a success!!!

And now I leave this quote for all of you:

This campfire really teaches me more stuff than I had learnt in the past two years. Maybe it is because I'm a sec three and I'm in charge of thecommittee. Even though we had only about one month plus to put everythingtogether, I think we did a good job. But if you considered this campfirewith the previous years, I would say this campfire is not a good job done.Maybe it's time constrait, the teamwork, but there's just something thatgoes wrong that we cant just figured it out. Forturnatly, my patrol members were quite ok. They attended all of theunoffical meetings and helped us(Jia wen and me) out when they know thatthere is a lot of undone stuffs. They were also very cooperative with us andgave us feedbacks if they think there is other better ways. If they havesome problems regarding any stuff that we asked them to do, they will askand not sit there and stoned. I really learnt a lot about teamwork and leadership in the process of thiscampfire. I learnt more about my new patrol members and how theyworked.(They worked very sliently, something that other patrol will not do)I really hope that there will be other chance to bond with them tighter andit's really great to work with this bunch of juniors.

This is my first time attending a campfire of our own. The gateway was very nice and elegant. The horseshoe formation of the chairs is very special and nice. I like the fire the best, it gave me a sense of home and excitement. The programmes on were also very fun and creative. But i think that the stage is a little bit simple and bland. If we can add a bit of decorations by the side, i think it will look much better. If we can also invite more schools to our campfire, i think it will look more crowded.

Overall, i enjoyed myself in the campfire very well. Hope that next year we can have a better campfire.

Before the campfire, it was anxiety and worries. During the campfire, it wasexcitement. And after the campfire, it's indeed time for us to reflect onwhat we had done for the past few weeks. After every campfire, there are bound to be lessons learnt and experiencegained. The same goes to this year's campfire. I would say that this year'scampfire was generally good. But, as compared to the past two years, therewas indeed a significant drop in standard. This might be due to the timeconstraint, or perhaps we do not have the pride and enthusiasm like what wehad in the past. This time round, Oriole 2nd was in charge of the backdrop committee. I wouldsay that this was a completely different experience. My patrol was in chargeof R&R in the past two years. Therefore, the change in committee was indeeda great challenge for my patrol. Personally, it was a rather challengingtask as I had to be in charge of something that I'm not familiar with. Buton the overall, I think that my patrol had done a pretty good job. So thumbsup!Like what I had mentioned just now, there are bound to be lessons learnt. The main problem we faced was the reduce in the backdrop size - instructionswere not followed. The lesson learnt is that we should not point fingers atthe the person who had made the mistake, but to learn from the mistake andtry to rectify the situation.Besides that, I supposed that the experience I had gained from this campfirewould be useful in the future. Firstly, I understood the fact that being aleader isn't any easy job, because you are the one giving others theinstructions and the one who is responsible for your whole patrol. Secondly,I think that this campfire is a good way to bond us with our patrol members together. This is because through this campfire, we will have moreopportunities to communicate and interact with one another. Thirdly, I havelearnt that time management is very important in all aspects, both in Guidesand in our daily life. This is when the timeline comes to help. Folllowingclosely to a timeline will enable us to have ample time to do a finaltouch-up and to help other patrols. Finally, I feel that everyone, bothleaders and the juniors, should give our 101% and have a positive attitudeat all time in order to get things done.

I think the campfire was quite ok.. but u guys think it is not good. maybe because I never go to any campfire before...=( actually I think that mypatrol is a very cooperative and constant. Like what Huixin mam said.. Wefollowed the schedule.. But I think I did not really help except that Ihelped to stain the papers with coffee and draw the moon and paint part ofit.. I think that I am very lucky to have Jia Wen as my patrol leader.. But next time I will help more and participate more actively in the next campfire...

campfire's reflection

"Medieval Days" was the name of this year's campfire. Being in charge of doing Programme And Performance, i felt that, i did not give my best. My patrol had a hard time finding the right texture of an ancient book but with the help of the CLs, we managed to come up with an idea and put it into use. However, by the time we came up with the idea, it was already the week before the campfire. We had to do our work faster than usual and with it being acceptable at the same time. Though we managed to finish it, it was right before the campfire. I really regret not following the time schedule because if we did, we could finish the booklets 2 weeks before the campfire. Nonetheless, through this campfire, i realized that even if we had only one month to do the preparations, we should really REALLY plan our time very very carefully and so we can pull through the campfire successfully without having to worry that any part of the campfire preparations is not done up properly. With faith, I believe that we can pull next year's campfire even more successfully!

Campfire Reflection > Cindy

--the medieval moonlight

This year, the campfire was great. Although it was sort of a rush last minute. My patrol was in charge of the gateway. We did not do finish the banner as there was not enough time. I admit that i did not even put in 80% of my effort. The feeling that when i know that a campfire was coming was not tense enough for me. I felt that i was not anxious for the campfire. It was only that when everything was put up nicely then i felt that the real thing was coming. I could tell that only a few people were enthusiastic for it only as they were always in a rush to get things done. I do not know why i was and why i should be half dead at that time.Even when the mdms shouted to speed up on tasks, i gave 1% more to what i was doing. Maybe that i was numb. Something just told me not to care. Then i was thinking about what huixin mdm said so i tried changing my attitude. At the day before and on the campfire, i decided to do what i can do, although most of the things were almost done. I was thinking that what icould do was at most tighten the gateway thing last minute. It was not of much help i guess. I got a blister at my thumb. I ask myself, was it worth getting that blister?

At the campfire night, i enjoyed myself a lot, but i was not really happy. I was guilty. That the fun i had now was actually the hard work of the many people who had contributed a lot more than me to the campfire. I was actually having part of their fun. This is a selfish thing, i thought. Its like i did not help to bake a cake, now that it is being baked, i actually had a share.
About the dance..i missed out three steps for my dance, maybe because me and yunjie were dancing in front of the VIPs. Before our item, i was very scared that i would have an empty mind when dancing halfway, like last year.

Aguides annual campfire 2006, medieval moonlight (:

it was fab la. i mean wht can i say, it is MY campfire. (: preparations were okay, touched up on this and tht. raah, jacobs ladder was like super unstable la. nvrthless, we still put it thr. if not all we had was a castle as gateway. i hopehopehope aguides standard of making gateway goes way waaaaaaaaay up! :D

had free breakfast and lunch XD it started drizzling la at ard 2. they had to go and cover up the fire for a couple of times cos the rain was going on and off. huixin asked the sec 2s to practice the dance. lol, we managed to synchronise our actions making the dance more awesome (: we kept on practicing until the rain stopped, and we had a run-through. emcees were gd la, just tht they were nervous la. the dance was good good (:

ard 3, me izzah nazira went of for council gm. had to choose our commitees and prepare for invest this sept. DECORATIONS! with pat. haha, mingchien xP connect, sprout, scc (: lol so they continued la, and we were all to have daily morning checks for attire and all tht. ): aft all tht, we went back for guides. huixin was giving the talk bfr our washups and all. really heartwarming la. AGUIDES IS MY PRIDE, MY PASSION <3

had another run-through. then we went to bathe. we chgd into our dance costume cos we were doing the opening item. lol i didnt sew the beads to the jeans so i asked nazira and anna to help me. haha, i swear im a failure with the thread and needle. and even clumsier -.- aft they sewed it and i put it on, my big fat giant bigfoot broke the thread and they had to resew it all over. urgh. im sucha failure ):

we did quite well! :D im kinda surprised, at least i didnt forget my dance steps. lol. and i was quite low ah this campfire cos izzah was the emcee. ): i miss you being beside me jumping and jumping ): nevertheless, i managed to get a few ppl enthu also la. haha, we danced cannibal king with the brownies and gosh they were so cute la! nyahaha, their hands were like cotton candy, able to melt in yr hands =DD then was sabo-ed to do simon says on stage. lol, was quite fun ah!

haha, i love aguides. and i really learnt alot from this campfire. it was my first one in anderson (the previous one was at HIPS) and i felt the joy in it. proposals have to be made way way beforehand to avoid later disruptions, and everything has to be approved by mdm has like really early for us to get our preparations done. and our dance has to have enough dancers, and must make sure they are commited to learn the dance no matter wht.

I LOVE AGUIDES! :DDD

Nafeeshah
