QiJin's Reflection

QiJin is going to talk about her reflections! :DD

Firstly, I felt that Chu Yun’s healthy punch was great. And she was such a great PL! Even when facing the huge stress of carrying out the roles of a leader, she managed to cope well and care for her fellow team members! Fantastic job nice person!

Next, I admit that all of us indeed took a very long time to build the gadgets. I was taking my time and I’m not going to find some excuse for it! Sorry to all.. :(

After the first scolding I realized it wasn’t a camp for me to just have fun, and I remembered it was a TRAINING camp. Yes, and I learnt the importance of a sense of urgency. It was essential in that camp.

The night walk wasn’t scary at all. But I’m not saying it should be. Anyway, I heard a sssss sound, freaked out, and hurried my way through to the end. Perhaps it was my imagination, but I regretted it soon after, as I had, due to fear, forgotten to look at the many many twinkling stars above.

The first day wasn’t very entertaining, and my shoes were spoiled! So I tied them with twine, which I had to adjust every 5 minutes. During dinner my homesickness set in.

The second day was just GREAT! Games were super fun, though we got all wet and dirty. And oh my gosh! I love outdoor cooking! Especially the food. My patrol finished the chicken and watermelon in less than 5 minutes, serious! Before we ate the chicken, in the midst of our games, while we were happily enjoying them, LIGHTING STRIKED not far away. This time, everyone reacted fast and the leaders were happy, and that was the first time in that camp that we got a compliment. That lightened our spirits a lot.

(I’m so proud of my patrol’s chicken that we cooked together. It was just nice – not too burnt nor uncooked.)

Night game! Chu Yun was extremely brave and she went in the front. She wasn’t afraid of anything! Super cool. Though I was somewhere in the middle I still was afraid. Still curiosity and my venturous nature got me going. I felt that the seniors had done a great job indeed, and it was also very courageous of them to act as ghosts.

(Who would have thought Emily was a cat! HA.)

We were woken up (around 4am?) to play games that we missed during the afternoon. The night was cooling and nice!

Then after all the games and cheers taught, we had breakfast. Milo!! I had to do Orderlies duty and it was difficult trying to resist the temptation of the delicious food that awaited me!

Soon after, it was time to pack up but the tents were not dry yet. And after an hour of loading of equipment, we decided to keep it anyway as it was already quite dry by then.

After I got onto the bus, I fell asleep immediately and woke up about 40 minutes later to find that we had already reached Anderson. Home Sweet Home! Home is best!

When I reached home, I cried. I cried like never before and I don’t know why. Perhaps it was the realization that I had taken many things for granted in the past. Perhaps it was the happiness of getting home. Or maybe it could simply be my long-suppressed tears. I bathed, and then cried again.

From this camp, I have become a stronger person (mentally) and also to cherish the things I have, especially my family and friends, and the little things in life we don’t usually notice. From this camp, I received lots of warmth and care from my sister Guides, and I am especially grateful to the people in my patrol, and the seniors who have obviously worked very hard. Also, it also taught me to persevere and fight my fears away. That’s why I say, BELIEVE ME WHEN I SAY, “I CAN DO IT!”
