Lirong's Campfire Reflection

This year's campfire, Anderson Girl Guides' Annual Campfire 2006, The Medieval Moonlight. We did not have much time to prepare, but it turned out quite well. We had a new guider, Ms Lidia, to take charge of our campfire. We also had a new principal, Mrs Poh, to be our GOH. She showed enthusiasm and even brought her little daughter along. The schools invited were quite "high" although there were fewer schools than usual. The emcees were not very prepared, but we must really praised them for making it through and doing a fairly well job. Well done emcees! The sec2 dancers did their best but there was some problem with the sound system. The sec2s were familiar with their dance steps and their costume was*wow*. The sec3s dancers did put in effort, but i think some of them got really nervous and forgot the steps. Some of the audience said the sec3 dance was great though. (The GATEWAY can be better. A lot of time and money has been spent on the cloth. There was the Jacob's Ladder too.) (The FIRE was alright on the whole but it got a bit small towards the end of the campfire. The fire-guards were not very automatic.) (The standard in the PROGRAMME BOOKLET have dropped but the committee has really put in effort. They had too little manpower.) (The RECEPTION & REFRESHMENT was the most prepared, but the assigned people were not there to guard the food.) (The SOUVENIR was nice, and the committee had worked really hard.) (The BACKDROP was well done, but the size of the backdrop was too small.) (The STRUCTURE was pretty good, but they repainted their swords and shields too many times.) I hope all the sec2s and sec1s have learnt and gained experience from this year's campfire. They will be organising their own campfire next year. Hope it will be better. :) Looking forward to it. Jia You, juniors!

Yours in guiding,
Li Rong
