this is my first time going to annual training camp.went with quite a number of fears.but things turned out to be not as scary as wad i expected except the night game.
what i learnt:
learnt the way to pitch the tent.where and why the gadget poles should be located.first time i learnt how to light a kerosene lamp and why e light shouldn't be so bright as it would blacken the glass and other people will haf a difficult time cleaning it.when in a meal ring,we are not suppose to cross the table.food muz not be placed on sit-upons.first aid stuffs like wad shld we do in different emergency cases.sum feeling abt the camp:
e camp was fun generally.but the rain really did us bad.outdoor cooking was ruined..that was really bad.games were fun.night game that the leaders set-up was a success.it made me cry.[esp yiteng's ma'am part]...(: our patrol was a little not on task.PL forgotten to print out sum info.now i noe wad will happen and the effects of it,i will be prepared when i go for it nxt year.yep..thats all..anuual training camp was FUN!(: i love it!

CAMP CHRISTINE, 10 MAR – 12 MAR 2008
OUTWIT, OUTSHINE, OUTLAST!
GROUP 2: ENERGIZER!
This year’s camp was nice! For some reasons, we did not do a lot of punishments, probably due to the weather :D But we’ll still do it someday, anyway.
On the first day, we did tent pitching and gadgets, the basics. There was a bit of confusion here and there during tent pitching as everyone got everything mixed up, but luckily, there were many people to help us and guide us on the way, like the CLs and YAs. Thanks! :D Then during gadget making, there were not enough poles of the length needed as there was another school around, which made life difficult for us, but thankfully we had our brains, so we could improvise on the original designs. Although it was not as good in terms of stability, it was satisfactory and for my patrol, VERY creative, especially the clothes line. (:
Anyway, there were a lot of ants and mosquitoes, but it could not be helped, but it was still irritating. I think the ants were either trying to defend their territory, or they were trying to eat us. Horrible ants!
Not sidetracking, it was evening and I liked the dinner. And we had a very pleasant surprise – night game on the first night! YAY. But it was just too bad that Mas Selamat had gone loose and we could not have night walk on the second night, because I feel that having the night walk after the next day after the night game is much, much scarier. I love the night game!
NEXT DAY!
We played a lot of games requiring team work. Some were good, and some were uhh... not so good. Especially the one where we used our facial body parts and belly to transport bread, carrot and tomato slices and more. And we ate it up despite the many times it dropped onto the floor. Ahh its scary just to think about it.
But I liked the flour-soccer game! Although I could not take part due to skin conditions (SUPER BOO!) but it was fun just watching. And very soon after (or was it before?) we had outdoor cooking! BUT BUT BUT IT HAD TO RAIN!! BOOO~ The weather was a letdown to all of us and I suppose we were as gloomy as the skies. But our dearest Hui Xin ma’am was there to tend our indoor fire all the time, helping us cook our chickens, and keeping the fire going. It was super touching, and I’m really grateful for the things she did for us, and although she had to go to school she sacrificed lessons for us. As the saying goes, “A friend in need is a friend indeed.” A million thanks! And I know you love us. :D

The patrol performances were also very entertaining, and a reason why I like camp Christine is because no matter how loud we scream, nobody can hear us, cos we’re so isolated! Anyway, many of the performances were related to Guides, I like!

We packed up and there was a bit of a drizzle, but with our ponchos we managed to clear up the gadget poles. We were fortunate as we did not need to keep our tents, another school didn’t mind using ours. Yay!
REFLECTION REFLECTIONS
This camp was a very memorable camp as I saw lots and heaps of sisterly love. And there was this part of the camp when the rain was heavy and Zhi Ling ma’am had to lower the Guides flag, and there was some delay because the flag could not come down properly, so Shamira ma’am went to help her, and in the end both ended up very wet. Very touching right? Lol, back to reflections. I am now closer to many of my sister Guides, and I want to thank all my patrol members for cooperating :D You people are great! Let me list you all out: Styfany, my dear PS, thanks for helping out when I was not around! ;) Christine, my dear FA. Thanks for cheering me up and giving me encouragement when I needed it most. And thanks for helping so much in the proposal. ^^ Adlyn, my dear QM. Your cheerfulness has added joy to our patrol and you never said no when assigned jobs. Thanks for being cute too! :D Hui Yee, best camper! So proud of you, thanks for taking initiative in many things and helping out so much! and especially the people!I love my patrol and i think we are bonds have gotten closer after the camp. I think we did fine in camp except that i have a tendency to forget things, so i ended up leaving my FA kit in the tent for a few times.The very very few setbacks we have:

- -the 72" poles are too long very hard to hammer in and the metal hammer is quite heavy.
- - the bad weather, there was no outdoor cooking and it slightly dampened our spirits, anyways not being able to do outdoor cooking might appear to be good.
But no chance to sweat out the energy in me. I expected to lose some weight XD
I expected to sleep like a pig once I reach home. This was to forget the tons of homework everyone including me has.
Some memorable moments:
Ajeeta being super brave during night games. She took the lead by going first, many of us were afraid of this kind of stuff. But Ajeeta just walked on and behaved like she does this everyday. Bixia too! Nobody likes being the last one but Bixia volunteered herself Wow! I love our toilet highs. And the “ajaur” inspired orange juice. I think Charlene did quite well during the night games as even though she was afraid, she tries to be involved in it by opening her eyes even though she knows it’s going to scare her. Cynthia improved a lot as there were many first-times for her throughout the camps which she all tried. And yujia loves flour! Hahas hey I will remember we will get you ‘floury’ sometime. Sharon is quite ‘ xi xin’ too. Woots! Tada my patrol!
The only stuff I seriously don’t really like is the amount of ‘feifeis’ at camp Christine. Shockingly suicidal and irritating, they bite even though you have applied god-knows-how-many-layers of insect repellent.
Looking forward to more camps and guide activities!

This is my first ever guide training camp!!!Woohoo!!! It was much more relaxing than I thought it would be. It was much much fun!!! Before the camp, I thought that we would all hug each other and say our last words on the second day, or even worst, the first day?

It was so heartwarming!!! To see everyone get a Manito!!!
- Frog in toilet
I finally saw the frog in the toilet only on the second day but it was humongous. I wonder what they eat? Are they eating the flies, which eat the stuff in toilets??? Hehe!!!
- Campfire
Everyone was high on that day!!! I finally know how to do thousand-legged worm!!! It is to draw triangles!!! Then the emcees were very cute, they did a great job! I think. Then there was patrol performance, mojo-kojo appeared and we know who he is (are)…
- Sandwich Game
My body was not very stretchy, but we managed to eat the sandwich we dropped. The worst thing is, it dropped near the shoes!!!
- Watermelon Game
We are supposed to chew the watermelon n (puke) into a bag. I think the mams holding the bag is really brave!!! If we aim wrongly, then er…
- Insects (especially crickets)
Before sleeping, we will spray massive insect repellent around. Unfortunately, crickets manage to crawl in…
- Games after campfire
Our seniors taught us songs and games after the campfire, there was this game where I was slow, real slow! But I managed to have fun and not caught! Hehe!
- Ponchos
Our ponchos stink after countless days of rain, nobody’s poncho should be in complete form, I think.
- Bread game
We are supposed to kiss? I accidentally bit too much of the bread, causing the people behind me to suffer. Hehe!
- Patrol identity
Before reaching the campsite, my patrol identity had already fallen apart. But the funny ting abt patrol identity is the first day, when someone asked if it is needed to be worn when sleeping. Then Dimeng said, “It doesn’t matter whether we are witties or dummies when we are sleeping.” It was sooo funny, maybe to me only. Hehe!!!
- I-scream cheer
I think everyone can memorise the cheer already. It is really a cute cheer!!!
In conclusion, After the camp, I felt that it really is a wonderful time where A.Guides gather together to have fun or even suffer. I had never regret to going to this camp, and will cherish my years in going, because this is being a Guide’s privilege!!!The sad thing is, after the camp, we are going to do punishment. But we are doing together, so we can do it!!!I enjoyed the camp!!!

Way before the camp, I was quite nervous, as being a sec 3, I knew that it was sure going to be stressful. There's a lot of expectations and juniors to set a good example to and also ensure that people get a good impression of me. However, the camp was alright, and did not turn out to be too tough. Sure there were time limits to be met, and things to be done and punishments, we were required to overexert ourselves. As I was the PS of my patrol, my roles were not too demanding as the others as mine unlike theirs, was more of a supporting role and I still had my PL to depend on. However I knew that there were still things required to do. While we were heading for Camp Christine, my heads were filled with thoughts as I tried to recall what happened in the training camp the previous year, and hoping that that experience would guide me this year.
Once we reached the campsite, we had to unload our bags and all the other fodstuff and quickly move them to the Pax Lodge. After transferring everything, we had to get ready to pitch our tent, which was what I had been looking forward to. I was required to bring the mallets and thus I hurried off to the canoeshed, where I ended up carrying the box full of pegs. It was really heavy and I was only able to carry it on my own for a few metres, as I felt that the edges of the box were cutting into my fingers. However, I managed to bring it over to my tent site with the help of Siti. Then, my patrol gathered our stuff to pitch the tent. It was quite ok, except that we took quite long to pitch the tent. After pitching our tents, we had to make our gadgets. However, ther were not enough 72" poles and we had to sort of improvise our gadgets on the spot. But, we still managed to make satisfactory gadgets, even though the persistent rain slowed us down. At night, we had our night game. The storyline was interesting, although as we went on to our different stations, I had some difficulty interpreting from the clues. For one of our station, at the canoeshed, I had to lead my patrol there. It was not scary being the first person until a Mam appeared out of nowhere and ran towards me! But I was really scared at Jie Ling and Jia Hui or Yi Teng Mams' station, as again I was the first person, along with Cheryl and it was totally dark. Although I did not cry during the night game, some Mam said that I cried, which made me feel disheartened as i really had put in a lot of effort to overcome my fear of the dark.
Those were the major happenings in the first day and soon enough, we were in our sleeping in our tent, on top of newspapers and the groundsheet, anticipating the next day full of activities. Sure enough, the 2nd day started off big and we had to run a long distance. I found it refreshing though. The second day was full of games and activities, such as outdoor cooking and the night game. outdoor cooking did not turn out great as it started raining, and we could not start a fire outside. Moreover, I could not locate my patrol's hanger for our bell chicken! Luckily, I managed to get one, though it was not ours. When the indoor fire was up, I was required to cook the potatoes and corn, and I ended up overcooking the corn and undercooking the potatoes! But it turned out to be ok afetr Cheryl and Pei Xuan took over. My patrol's bell chicken was the last to be cooked and we had to finish it during dinner that day. After dinner, one of the most anticipated part of the camp: our campfire! It was indoor again as it had rained a lot that day. It was really fun and I was busy laughing along with the others, watching the other patrols' humorous performances. The MCs were also really fun! They made the whole camp enjoyable. Ours was quite alright, though it turned out to be quite a confusing story outline. Nevertheless, it was a good experience going out to perform and hear our fellow guides cheering for us. Sadly, good things do have to come to an end, and very soon. All things do have to come to an end, and soon enough the next day we were packing up to go home, after doing our duties. I had to kill countless of insects in the toilet.
It was a good camp overall, and I found my patrol cooperative and willing to work together. However, I must apologise to them for not marching properly during colours ansd being unsure about certain things. However, this camp will still be a memorable experience for me.

This is my first annual training camp! At first, I thought it would be very tense and pure torture. However, after experiencing the camp itself, I realised it was far more than that alone.
The first day, when we were assembling to go there, my patrol members told me that Ziyun, our PS is not here, I was quite shocked as our patrol originally had only 3 sec 3s, which was lesser than other patrols, and Ziyun is not here! I wondered if our patrol could still function properly.
As we reached camp Christine, we were supposed to unload the stuff and start pitching our tent. I was not sure of what to do exactly as I sort of forgot about the training we had before that. Many of us are also not quite sure. Eventually, our tent still turned out quite well but we took longer than other patrols. Gadget making was fine. I was a little confused about diagonal lash but the sec 3s were helpful and thought me how to do it.
Night game wasn’t really scary as we were given torchlight at the start. We saw our seniors before they could scare us. The later part made me really scared. I was screaming at every little thing.
The second day, my patrol was supposed to be doing health duty; we are supposed to clean the toilets. I think we did it too slowly that Valerie and Chuyun came to help us. I think we could have worked faster.
The outdoor cooking was not successful as it was raining when we half through. We still managed to do it indoors, but it takes a much longer time there is only one place we can cook and all the patrols had loads of food. I am supposed to chop the charcoal before that. However, I did not know how to as I had never done it before. The seniors are willing to teach me, I had learnt something again.
The campfire was entertaining, the emcees were funny. I had fun learning some songs that was not quite sure, and some that I had not heard before. My patrols performance was not that good as we did not rehearse before that.
The third day, my patrol was supposed to do cooks duty and we should report at 6 am. However, my whole patrol overslept until about 6. 20 am. I think all of us were too tired. Furthermore, none of us had a alarm watch. ( I do, but I had no idea how to use..). We started cooking late and missed PT in the morning. We still managed to prepare the breakfast in time.
The games for all days were very fun and I really enjoyed them.(Although some were disgusting). The games helped us build up our teamwork and learn to cooperate, such as the sandwich making game, we did not pass our foodstuff well and the food keep dropping. Thinking of eating them after that sort of freak me out. My team although not the fastest in passing, finished eating the sandwich first! The flour game (gummy one) made my face very floury, in addition, the second flour game made me choked on flour and I felt like vomiting, so then I did not blow as hard. The one where we were supposed to act handicapped tested our first aid skills and our teamwork. I was not confident with myself in walking blindfolded, I found it hard to trust others at first as I am very unsure. My patrol was willing to wait for me.
Time passes very quickly in the camp, soon, it was out third day and we are able to go home already. We are supposed to announce our Manito. Mine is huiling. I am Yee Ru’s Manito. I was suspecting that it was her from the note she wrote to me.
My patrol won the “Best Patrol”, I was very shocked. I am proud of my patrol. WITTIES!!

Di Meng's Reflection
Generally i think the camp was a success , except for the rain. It was not as tough as i thought i will be. Everything is okay. The games were very fun. But a bit disgusting about the part where we had to eat the sandwich we passed using our body parts. Like the night game and the waterbomb too.
I enjoyed the campfire too. Had a good time playing the games huixin mdm taught us. *tingtingting ahgu!*
Some things i dreaded is waking up early in the morning. And the thousands of ants whenever theres the presence of food. The ant bites were painful.
The food was tasty too. Thanks to the cooks
Our patrol did a good job , considering the absence of ziyun and only two sec 3s . Had a good time doing things together. We always helped each other out and we were always laughing. I guessed the game bonded us.

CHARLENE’S REFLECTION, O-RANGERS
It was my FIRST training camp and it won’t be my LAST. On the first day, it was still okay, but it was a bit unorganised when we were loading and unloading the stuff onto and out from the bus. After that, guides in training began!!!
First it was tent pitching. Actually, there was a schedule for us to follow on whom to do what for tent pitching but all of us did not bother to follow as we were short of time. However, we still managed to finish pitching the tent on time. Then, it was gadget making. It was also okay but the poles sized of what to use, as we had to change some of the pole sizes, confused us. The rest of the day of Day 1 camp was games that brought our patrol closer to one another. On the whole, the games were very interesting and fun. I enjoyed it tremendously. Night game…I cried the whole journey, as I was super scared, but the storyline was actually quite nice. On the whole, day 1 of training camp was fun but I thought we would do LOTS of punishment instead of playing games.
We did PT and punishment and played more games but it was not as fun as the Day 1. However, the white game was fun and I enjoyed it very much. Sad to say, the outdoor cooking was RUINED BY THE RAIN but the food was still as tasty especially the chicken! Campfire was nice; the emcees were ‘high’. Our performance went smoothly and I enjoyed the other patrols’ performance too! The games that Huixin ma’am taught us after that was also very fun and engaging and I laughed myself out. On the whole, day 2 of training camp was still okay for me but it was a bit tiring.
We were supposed to report at 6.45pm but some patrols overslept thus we had to do punishment. But I don’t think entirely is their fault because I too would have overslept as I would be very tired. During the taking out of gadget poles, my patrol was very rush; as we had to transport the charcoal wood, take out the gadgets from the kitchen shelter and our own tents! We did not have enough time to do so as the twines were wet and therefore difficult to untie the knots. But soon tiring times were all over. It was HOME SWEET HOME!
I feel that this whole training camp was is a success and is quite well planned and I enjoyed myself very much. THANK YOU SENIORS FOR YOUR HARDWORK!

CHARLENE’S REFLECTION, O-RANGERS
It was my FIRST training camp and it won’t be my LAST. On the first day, it was still okay, but it was a bit unorganised when we were loading and unloading the stuff onto and out from the bus. After that, guides in training began!!!
First it was tent pitching. Actually, there was a schedule for us to follow on whom to do what for tent pitching but all of us did not bother to follow as we were short of time. However, we still managed to finish pitching the tent on time. Then, it was gadget making. It was also okay but the poles sized of what to use, as we had to change some of the pole sizes, confused us. The rest of the day of Day 1 camp was games that brought our patrol closer to one another. On the whole, the games were very interesting and fun. I enjoyed it tremendously. Night game…I cried the whole journey, as I was super scared, but the storyline was actually quite nice. On the whole, day 1 of training camp was fun but I thought we would do LOTS of punishment instead of playing games.
We did PT and punishment and played more games but it was not as fun as the Day 1. However, the white game was fun and I enjoyed it very much. During this camp held at Camp Christine, I have learnt how to work together with my patrol members, be it when playing games or pitching a tent. Through the help of my patrol Energizer, I learnt valuable experience on co-operatiing and working together with one another. Also, I learnt how to cope whenever some of my patrol members are feeling stressed up and to perforn my duties better and faster. (e.g. health, cook and orderlies) I also learnt to appreciate and treasure my home even greater with all its comforts, including the toilet. New cheers (like the Trainee cheers etc) and new games (Ah gu, Yandao etc) were taught, and I enjoyed learning/ playing them.

Sitting in a ring together with your fellow Guides and watching the performances or cheering, it is a very happy experience and which leaves behind beautiful memories.
The games played were fun, but some were a bit too digusting, like eating food which had dropped on the floor... The night game was fun, but perhaps less scary than what I expected. The flour game left my poncho filled with flour, including my face. Hence, I looked very comical...but then, it was very FUN! What with all the games and some 'physical training', by the end of the days/camp, I was exhausted.

Hence, without the support of my patrol members ~ QiJin, Styfany, Christine, Adlyn, Shi Hui and Siti ~ and all my other fellow Guides and seniors, I would not have such a meaningful time.

This camp was unlike any other camp I had attended. This camp was the first camp which I went to with all my fellow Guides, and also it was the first time I had ever slept inside a tent before. Thus, it was very memorable, despite the heavy rain and numerous ants which wanted to dampen my mood... (no matter how hard we tried to kill the ants, the ants just kept coming...no matter how much we pray for the rain to stop, the rain just kept coming...)
The part of the camp which I liked most was the campfire. As the campfire only had us Anderson Clover Guides and graduated seniors, all of us knew the jokes and humour which we shared together, which other people would not have known. Shi Hui's Camp Reflection
This year's training camp theme was 'Outwit, Outshine, Outlast'.
Day one was a rather busy day. We gathered at school early in the morning, with heavy baggages and loads of stuff to carry onto the bus. The weather didn't seem that fine and added to my worry that I might not be able to make it through the whole camp. Carrying all the stuff to the bus was a rather difficult job, with heavy stuff like firewoods and charcoals to the light stuff like bags. The 40 minute ride was filled with songs and cheers, one thing that I was glad the seniors made us do, cause it made me feel less fearful of the 3 days ahead.
Reaching Camp Christine, we unloaded quickly and took our stuff to Pax Lodge. Setting up the tent proved to be an obstacle for me, as this is my first time setting up a tent. But my patrol members was nice to aid me and teach me along the way and we pitched up the tent with a few time extensions. Then was the gadget making. Baggage rach, shoe rack,clothes line, I had completely no idea on how we were supposed to make them. Qijin and I was tasked to make the shoe rack and Qijin taught me how to make the shoe rack. Thanks Qijin!!!
Next came lunch. (I can't remember everything clearly so sorry for missing out any details) The lunch was nice and after that was more preparation jobs and all. My patrol was in charge of Health and we went about putting the toliet papers and newspaper into the toliet. It was quite an easy job and we finished the job quite quickly.
After dinner, we had Night Games (though I thought we were having Night Walk). I freaked out at the dorm when Jieling ma'am suddenly slammed the door shut. I was already scared and because of that bang, I started crying. Christine comforted me and I was soon clamed down. Thanks Christine!!! Back at the lodge, we started to piece all the 'clues' together. It was like a patrol time together and I appreciated it. Sleeping in the tent was quite cool, only the ants was the thing that was hateful. Still, I slept like a log.
Next day, everything zoomed by pretty quickly. The mood during outdoor cooking was suddenly dampened by the sudden downpur, causing everyone to scurried into the lodge, saving as much of their stuff as possible. We had indoor cooking, thanks to Huixin ma'am and Huiying ma'am, who tried as hard as they could to make sure that we have the joy of cooking our own food.
After cooking was the first aid game. We had quite a laugh at Jieling ma'am and Lirong ma'am's station, where we had to act out a scene of an old man choking on FISHBALL. Nevertheless, we got over it and passed. However, I could tell the ma'ams was getting rather pissed off with our performance, dragging time and falling way behind shedule.
CAMPFIRE ROCKS!!!We had the Titanic performance and laughed throughout the whole performance. The MCs were great and the mood was high despite having to had the campfire indoors. Everone participated actively in the songs and the cmafire was announced a success.
My patrol overslept on the third day and Yunjin had to come in and call us up. Everyone was rather hysteric and the disapproving looks on all the ma'ams face made us even guilty. We rushed through PT, had breakfast and went about taking down the gadget poles and all. On the bus back to school, alot of people fell asleep and everyone was relieved to be back to their world of communication again when we reached the school.
In conclusion, this yeaar's training camp was a very memorable for me, being the first time that I am attending the camp. My performance during the camp was very bad, because I wasn't quick enough and my attitude was very bad during the camp. I will do better for next year's training camp and change my attitude starting from now.

Yu Jia's Reflection
This year’s training camp seemed different from last year’s, I thought so, because there was not as many punishments and we could keep to the time for most of the activities, so it did not seem that we had to rush through much thing, in fact, my patrol could still manage to get some rest while keeping to the time limit of some activities, and I did wonder if we did too little things.
My patrol was the first one, O-rangers! From making of the proposal to the painting of the flags to the camp, I learnt pretty much stuffs, practically because I did not do as much last year. I finally realized why I was so irritating in the camp last year, because I finally found out how the seniors felt back then…
It was a bit stressful at first because many people did not follow Ajeeta and my instructions to think of ideas for the proposals and stuffs, and when doing work, they did not do much as well. However, everything still turned out fine (:
Cheers had many changes on the way to camp site as well as in the camp for my patrol and it was fun :D Reaching the campsite and moving all the equipments to Pax Lodge, we started with tent-pitching which confused most of us. The pioneer training from 3 weeks ago somehow faded slightly from my memory and we did many things wrongly. Things also turned out a bit confusing since we did not follow the duty allocations that we did because Cynthia was not here for tent pitching since she was the QM and she was making the kitchen shelter. It felt so good when we realized that our tent did not have as much problem as we thought, except that the groundsheet was still underneath. :/
Gadget making was ok except that we did not have the wooden mallet and we had to be extremely careful with the metal one. Some of the gadgets also did not follow measurements and alignments of the gadgets well so we had to redo a bit of them. It was also frustrating because there were not enough of the 48 inch poles and we had to substitute it with the 36 inch poles. We had to make many trips to the canoe shed to change the poles here and there. Knots and lashings were also confusing because some of them were unsure of how to make the knots or lashes. However, there was still time for changes to be made, except that our gadgets did not seem straight…
Lunch was nice but Yun Jin’s phobia of Styrofoam boxes was not gone yet and it was funny! Our duty for the first day was cooks, and we helped out with the dinner. We did not cook the dinner but we helped with the preparations like cutting and marinating the chicken, cutting the lettuce and more. Cooking was done by O3. Games was nice for that day because the flour thing to was quite fun :D My patrol was quite unlucky for the cup game because the cups kept falling and we had to redo over and over again, and we ended up taking the small container which made it hard for us to take out the gummies since our head could not fit into the container to take the gummies our properly. But I wanted more flour! The soccer game was nice too because we blowed the ping pong ball here and there and eventually also blowed the flour to others’ faces as a result. After that was the game whereby we had to pass bread and made sandwiches by passing bread from our nose, neck, forehead, stomach and cheeks. The sandwich dropped on the floor a lot of times and the sec 2s did not really dare to pass, but we succeeded eventually! The part where we passed our bread was frustrating because we wanted to pass on a large piece of bread but it turned out too small in the end :D The water bomb game whereby we had to throw water bombs without using our hands to our patrol member in front which caught the water bombs with their ponchos for that day was nice too. All our feet were wet but none of us really minded it much since we had a lot of fun for that. My poncho tore from the first day when it was accidentally stepped on and accidentally torn while running from one destination to the other. The dinner was nice too although the carrot was hard. The drink turned out to be dye and I guess a lot of us were shocked because we drank finish the whole cup of dyed water (:
COH after that was ok. Everyone said around the same things though and it was fun…Night game was not as scary as I thought, but Charlene still cried…There were many clues that my patrol did not manage to catch because we were not observant enough and because a few of my patrol members were busy trying to comfort Charlene and the rest of us to look at the clues. We had to force some of our patrol members to eat the supper after that before they went to sleep when they did not want to eat…We laid the newspapers and groundsheets and I was quite frustrated because many of them were standing outside the tent doing nothing when they could have came in to help, but the whole thing could still be managed…
We woke up at 6 the next day and cleared our newspapers and groundsheets. There were no problems for that, however we were still late for the PT in the end…PT was to run outside the campsite after warming up. While running, we had to sing songs and it was so tiring! After that was colours when Pei Xuan, Yun Jin and I were the colours party for the first time since I thought we will be able to learn something if we tried it out. After that was breakfast and my patrol had a lot of troubles for the breakfast because of the pot stand and the cups and so because there were a lot of ants and we had to re-wash them. The seat upon also took a long time to be set up…After breakfast was the white-racing where we had to collect 14 clues as we went from station to station. We mixed the stations up and it also took us a long time to realize that Nafeeshah was the clue, but we did not get the clue from her in the end since we did not do anything for them.
After that was outdoor cooking. I was supposed to do fire at first but it was changed because I was surer with the menu that we were cooking since logistics was done by me. It was confusing for me since I was the only one doing the food preparations as Charlene prepared the chicken. The part where we had to take the items that we shared was confusing. The rain totally spoilt the outdoor cooking! ): We had to move into “indoor cooking” and everyone prepared the food together while we sent the food over to the YAs and Hui Xin ma’am to cook. Our patrol was the first to send the chicken and it was very yummy :D We did not manage to finish all our food in the end since we were all too full. There was also much confusion here and there in my patrol then.
The first aid game was ok but since only Jerrica went for the first aid course and we all knew nothing about all the first aid things, we could all only stone there and listen and learn from those scenarios. It was nice since we learnt new first aid knowledge!
The part where we had to entertain the seniors were hard since my patrol had no idea on what to do and we eventually settled on imitations. The extra two person (Cynthia and me) could only imitate each of us. It was quite frustrating because Charlene and Bi Xia did not dare to imitate the seniors who did the funny funny actions. From this game, we got to use garbage bag for our water bomb game. Water bomb game was scary since I lost my water bomb before the start of the game to Ajeeta and I had to run frantically around because I had no water bomb to attack anyone. After that, we went to have a wash up and changed to our camp tee! :D It was dinner after that and campfire! Campfire was great and we screamed and we went all so hyper. Ajeeta presumed again that we would get hyper after going to the washroom and the whole patrol went to the washroom :D Our performance was ok and other patrols’ performances were great too! The emcees were funny too (: After the campfire was the few games where we all had so much fun laughing and laughing non-stop. :D
We then laid the newspapers and groundsheets where the same scenario as the day before happened again…
We slept immediately since we knew that there was sentry duty. We woke for sentry duty at 2am. Bi Xia and I were the first two to walk around for the sentry duty since I went back to close the tent doors and we two took our torchlights and were the last 2. It was only after returning back did I realize that it was also a mini session of the things we felt about our patrol members. I did not like it much since there were many people there and it did not feel comfortable for me to say out a lot of things that were in my mind. Thus it did not turn out fine for me…
Early in the morning was to clear our garbage and put our groundsheet to dry. Ajeeta and I pushed the trolley to take the newspapers out to the main gate and were late for the reporting time. However, patrol 2 and 3 overslept. We did punishments after the 40 squats that we did in the first day that were invalid. We did squats and jumping jacks and had breakfast in the end. Breakfast was very filling because we ate a lot as there were a lot of rounds of fried rice and fried rice and fried rice. We carried out our duties and took out our gadget poles and it was hard for my patrol because just the taking out of gadgets in the kitchen shelter already took us the whole time we could use for carrying out our duties and taking out our gadget poles. Thus, we were late and seniors were angry, and gave us yet another 15 minutes which proved not to be enough for us as well while we cleaned the gadget poles and put them to dry and so. After separating the gadget poles as A.guides ones and canoe shed ones, we wrote our good points, hopes and wishes and put them into the balloons. I did not know what I could write, so I only wrote hopes that I wish for, not writing those that I wanted to achieve from the camp since I achieved them (such as completing the night game without crying much!). We revealed our manitos in the end, and I was right for the guess of my manito :D
The prize giving part was funny. Although my patrol was the “most efficient” one, I thought we could have worked harder because I thought my patrol members were rather slow in performing certain tasks. They took their time for many of the activities that made me anxious and impatient because I was worried that we would get scolded. We packed our things in front of Olave Hall and packed them on the bus and went home. Many of us slept on the bus!
Overall, I thought my patrol was ok, although I was quite unhappy with many things that we did, but my patrol was very fun! My patrol members could get along very well and they did most of the things that they were assigned to do. Since we could all work quite well, we did not have much problems, though there were still some. I miss my patrol now after the camp! ): -

We had to force some of our patrol members to eat the supper after that before they went to sleep when they did not want to eat…We laid the newspapers and groundsheets and I was quite frustrated because many of them were standing outside the tent doing nothing when they could have came in to help, but the whole thing could still be managed…
We woke up at 6 the next day and cleared our newspapers and groundsheets. There were no problems for that, however we were still late for the PT in the end…PT was to run outside the campsite after warming up. While running, we had to sing songs and it was so tiring! After that was colours when Pei Xuan, Yun Jin and I were the colours party for the first time since I thought we will be able to learn something if we tried it out. After that was breakfast and my patrol had a lot of troubles for the breakfast because of the pot stand and the cups and so because there were a lot of ants and we had to re-wash them. The seat upon also took a long time to be set up…After breakfast was the white-racing where we had to collect 14 clues as we went from station to station. We mixed the stations up and it also took us a long time to realize that Nafeeshah was the clue, but we did not get the clue from her in the end since we did not do anything for them.
After that was outdoor cooking. I was supposed to do fire at first but it was changed because I was surer with the menu that we were cooking since logistics was done by me. It was confusing for me since I was the only one doing the food preparations as Charlene prepared the chicken. The part where we had to take the items that we shared was confusing. The rain totally spoilt the outdoor cooking! ): We had to move into “indoor cooking” and everyone prepared the food together while we sent the food over to the YAs and Hui Xin ma’am to cook. Our patrol was the first to send the chicken and it was very yummy :D We did not manage to finish all our food in the end since we were all too full. There was also much confusion here and there in my patrol then.
The first aid game was ok but since only Jerrica went for the first aid course and we all knew nothing about all the first aid things, we could all only stone there and listen and learn from those scenarios. It was nice since we learnt new first aid knowledge!
The part where we had to entertain the seniors were hard since my patrol had no idea on what to do and we eventually settled on imitations. The extra two person (Cynthia and me) could only imitate each of us. It was quite frustrating because Charlene and Bi Xia did not dare to imitate the seniors who did the funny funny actions. From this game, we got to use garbage bag for our water bomb game. Water bomb game was scary since I lost my water bomb before the start of the game to Ajeeta and I had to run frantically around because I had no water bomb to attack anyone. After that, we went to have a wash up and changed to our camp tee! :D It was dinner after that and campfire! Campfire was great and we screamed and we went all so hyper. Ajeeta presumed again that we would get hyper after going to the washroom and the whole patrol went to the washroom :D Our performance was ok and other patrols’ performances were great too! The emcees were funny too (: After the campfire was the few games where we all had so much fun laughing and laughing non-stop. :D
We then laid the newspapers and groundsheets where the same scenario as the day before happened again…
We slept immediately since we knew that there was sentry duty. We woke for sentry duty at 2am. Bi Xia and I were the first two to walk around for the sentry duty since I went back to close the tent doors and we two took our torchlights and were the last 2. It was only after returning back did I realize that it was also a mini session of the things we felt about our patrol members. I did not like it much since there were many people there and it did not feel comfortable for me to say out a lot of things that were in my mind. Thus it did not turn out fine for me…
Early in the morning was to clear our garbage and put our groundsheet to dry. Ajeeta and I pushed the trolley to take the newspapers out to the main gate and were late for the reporting time. However, patrol 2 and 3 overslept. We did punishments after the 40 squats that we did in the first day that were invalid. We did squats and jumping jacks and had breakfast in the end. Breakfast was very filling because we ate a lot as there were a lot of rounds of fried rice and fried rice and fried rice. We carried out our duties and took out our gadget poles and it was hard for my patrol because just the taking out of gadgets in the kitchen shelter already took us the whole time we could use for carrying out our duties and taking out our gadget poles. Thus, we were late and seniors were angry, and gave us yet another 15 minutes which proved not to be enough for us as well while we cleaned the gadget poles and put them to dry and so. After separating the gadget poles as A.guides ones and canoe shed ones, we wrote our good points, hopes and wishes and put them into the balloons. I did not know what I could write, so I only wrote hopes that I wish for, not writing those that I wanted to achieve from the camp since I achieved them (such as completing the night game without crying much!). We revealed our manitos in the end, and I was right for the guess of my manito :D
The prize giving part was funny. Although my patrol was the “most efficient” one, I thought we could have worked harder because I thought my patrol members were rather slow in performing certain tasks. They took their time for many of the activities that made me anxious and impatient because I was worried that we would get scolded. We packed our things in front of Olave Hall and packed them on the bus and went home. Many of us slept on the bus!
Overall, I thought my patrol was ok, although I was quite unhappy with many things that we did, but my patrol was very fun! My patrol members could get along very well and they did most of the things that they were assigned to do. Since we could all work quite well, we did not have much problems, though there were still some. I miss my patrol now after the camp! ): -

Annual Training Camp 2008- Outwit, Outshine,Outlast
This training camp is a little different from the others. I'm no longer a train-EE, but now a "train-ER".
Basically, the girls were pretty on time this camp. We pitched the tents in an hour! thats like 3hours less than last year! Good job done to everyone! I'm really glad that most of the games planned were on task this camp and could be carried out although there was bad weather.
Through this camp, i really learnt alot. Many a times, leaders shouldn't just give a task to the juniors and then leave them on their own. We should "supervise" them, and even help them. I have to make sure that i know my stuff really well because my juniors are awaiting my instructions. Sentry duty was fun! Waking up the girls in the middle of the night and seeing them so sleepy and drunk. :)
Glad that my body could take me that far in this camp. I wasn't knocked out! We didnt do much punishment too... just 40+40 INVALID squats, and another 40 valid sqauts and 40 valid jumping jacks. we also couldn't do night walk this time round due to security reasons. another classic moment of the camp was the 4 leaders didnt bathe at all! :) all in all, the camp was a success and a million thanks to all leaders, seniors and of course all trainees and huixin for helping me in every way!

This year's training camp was really fun!
And sort of different, going there as a sec 4 instead of the usual patrols.
Didnt really participate in the activities planned, was helping out in the kitchen most of the time.
Food was really yummy.
No charred,gross himalayan rice.
For outdoor cooking, potatoes were the best.
With mayonaise and bacon bits!
Bacon bits are nice, although they taste fake but still nice what!
There was a severe shortage of food so went out with some of the leaders to buy food!
Funfunfun get to see civilisation!
And I really salute the guides for eating the sandwich which they had to use their body parts to transfer.
Kind of disgusting, imagine all the oil and what not on the food and having to digest it.
And the watermelon!!!!! Basically for this camp, I thought that everything went well and was on schedule.
Pitched tents quite fast as compared to previous years?I think so.
Reflections and manito were quite heartwarming and meaningful.
Wasnt really expecting anything from this camp but it turn out to be really fun.
At the end of the day, I cannot really say I put in my best(hahahaha slack)
But I can definitely say I appreciate my fellow guides more then ever.
Especially the sec 4's and ex-leaders who came to help.

CAMPFIRE 2007 - Joie De Vivre :D
My patrol, Mynah 1st is doing Reception and Refreshment (R&R). We are supposed to do the invitations to the schools (guides and scouts). We are also supposed to do up a reception table and refreshments. So, we have to buy the stuffs.
Therefore, we started to do the necessary preparations during the June holidays. We met on a Wednesday to buy the stuffs for the reception table, which includes cloths, sequins or beads, fabric markers and feathers for the guest book. After buying all the required materials, we went back to school to start doing the reception table. Everything went well so far.
However, when it came to making the invitation cards, we were all so stressed out, as we had to wait for the paint to dry before we could do anything else. Also, we ran out of cardboard and it was difficult to cut them, as they were quite thick! Nevertheless, we all managed to survive this obstacle. The making of the guest book was quite easy, as we just had to paste the feathers for the butterfly and slot in the cloth for the guides and scouts to sign on. We had a great and fun time plucking the feathers out from the feather duster!
The rest of the preparation for the reception table went quite smoothly and I think everyone in my patrol did a great job! (:
On the day of the campfire, we started to prepare the food bought the day before. But sad to say, I did not go with my patrol members to buy the food, as I was very sick that day. I feel that one mistake made was that the fish balls were supposed to be boiled and not fried, as it would be much faster that way. However, I think it was worth the efforts as I heard the guides and scouts wanting for more fish balls! The fish balls must have been delicious!
We made sandwiches too. But they were not properly applied and thus we had to do a second time of applying the bread. This definitely wasted much time. In the first place, we should have done a proper and good job so that we do not have to do it a second time. We have learnt our lessons though.
To conclude, I think everyone in the unit had done a great job for the campfire preparations and to make the campfire a SUCCESS, we all had put in a lot of efforts and no matter how much failures we had along the way, I think as long as we have the determination, we can preserve through all difficulties. And though I didn’t get to watch the campfire, according to my fellow guides sisters, the campfire was truly memorable! :]

Huiling’s 1st campfire ever had – Joy Of Life, or Joie De Virve. It was a fun and thrilling experience for me; the lights, the atmosphere, the dance items and many more.
Although it rained on that day, my spirits were not dampened due to theenthusiasm of Anderson Clover Guides. We had our campfire in the hall. Thepreparations were done in rush…but, the results were just so wonderful! (: Time flew very fast that day and it finally reached 7pm… Campfire startedburning. Anderson Clover Guides, we were just so “high” that night.Everything was so fun…everything went smoothly. Sadly, other sister guides and brother scouts weren’t as enthusiastic as us. I thought that maybe itwas because of the rain. I really hope that next year’s campfire could bedone in the open. This will probably lift up the spirits of the other guidesand scouts. One thing I do not like about this campfire was that themicrophone was too soft. I was standing at the Andersonians contingent andcould hardly hear what the Emcees are saying. ): I hope the microphone volume could be louder, not a bit but a lot.
Before all the fun came the hard work… Kingfisher 2nd did souvenirs thisyear. Our proposal was rejected continuously and finally accepted. Althoughit was accepted, the making of it wasn’t that simple. We tried a lot of waysand the end product was appealing to some people but not that appealing tome. I don’t know why but I just hope to improve it in some ways or theother. “time is of the essence” this phrase, I will never forget. We had little time to complete the souvenirs, and the materials constantly weren’tenough. We rushed to the day itself…I must really comment that without JiaHui’s determination, our souvenirs will not be as nice as it is seen.
From this campfire, I learnt that teamwork is really very important. Andwhen there’s a will, there’s a way. Anderson Clover Guides Rocks! Kingfisher2nd is the best! :D

My patrol did souvenirs this time round. It's fun. but obviously Jiahui Maamwas soooo stressed!! Yes she was. she cried. and she blamed herself forthings that are not done properly ><><>.< color="#ff0000">Yu Jia, Kingfisher 2nd
