CAMPFIRE 2007 - Joie De Vivre :D

My patrol, Mynah 1st is doing Reception and Refreshment (R&R). We are supposed to do the invitations to the schools (guides and scouts). We are also supposed to do up a reception table and refreshments. So, we have to buy the stuffs.

Therefore, we started to do the necessary preparations during the June holidays. We met on a Wednesday to buy the stuffs for the reception table, which includes cloths, sequins or beads, fabric markers and feathers for the guest book. After buying all the required materials, we went back to school to start doing the reception table. Everything went well so far.

However, when it came to making the invitation cards, we were all so stressed out, as we had to wait for the paint to dry before we could do anything else. Also, we ran out of cardboard and it was difficult to cut them, as they were quite thick! Nevertheless, we all managed to survive this obstacle. The making of the guest book was quite easy, as we just had to paste the feathers for the butterfly and slot in the cloth for the guides and scouts to sign on. We had a great and fun time plucking the feathers out from the feather duster!

The rest of the preparation for the reception table went quite smoothly and I think everyone in my patrol did a great job! (:

On the day of the campfire, we started to prepare the food bought the day before. But sad to say, I did not go with my patrol members to buy the food, as I was very sick that day. I feel that one mistake made was that the fish balls were supposed to be boiled and not fried, as it would be much faster that way. However, I think it was worth the efforts as I heard the guides and scouts wanting for more fish balls! The fish balls must have been delicious!

We made sandwiches too. But they were not properly applied and thus we had to do a second time of applying the bread. This definitely wasted much time. In the first place, we should have done a proper and good job so that we do not have to do it a second time. We have learnt our lessons though.

To conclude, I think everyone in the unit had done a great job for the campfire preparations and to make the campfire a SUCCESS, we all had put in a lot of efforts and no matter how much failures we had along the way, I think as long as we have the determination, we can preserve through all difficulties. And though I didn’t get to watch the campfire, according to my fellow guides sisters, the campfire was truly memorable! :]

Anderson Clover Guides Annual Campfire 2007 JOIE DE VIRVE

Huiling’s 1st campfire ever had – Joy Of Life, or Joie De Virve. It was a fun and thrilling experience for me; the lights, the atmosphere, the dance items and many more.

Although it rained on that day, my spirits were not dampened due to theenthusiasm of Anderson Clover Guides. We had our campfire in the hall. Thepreparations were done in rush…but, the results were just so wonderful! (: Time flew very fast that day and it finally reached 7pm… Campfire startedburning. Anderson Clover Guides, we were just so “high” that night.Everything was so fun…everything went smoothly. Sadly, other sister guides and brother scouts weren’t as enthusiastic as us. I thought that maybe itwas because of the rain. I really hope that next year’s campfire could bedone in the open. This will probably lift up the spirits of the other guidesand scouts. One thing I do not like about this campfire was that themicrophone was too soft. I was standing at the Andersonians contingent andcould hardly hear what the Emcees are saying. ): I hope the microphone volume could be louder, not a bit but a lot.

Before all the fun came the hard work… Kingfisher 2nd did souvenirs thisyear. Our proposal was rejected continuously and finally accepted. Althoughit was accepted, the making of it wasn’t that simple. We tried a lot of waysand the end product was appealing to some people but not that appealing tome. I don’t know why but I just hope to improve it in some ways or theother. “time is of the essence” this phrase, I will never forget. We had little time to complete the souvenirs, and the materials constantly weren’tenough. We rushed to the day itself…I must really comment that without JiaHui’s determination, our souvenirs will not be as nice as it is seen.

From this campfire, I learnt that teamwork is really very important. Andwhen there’s a will, there’s a way. Anderson Clover Guides Rocks! Kingfisher2nd is the best! :D

CAMPFIRE 2007 - Joie De Vivre :D

Compare to last year campfirer, this year campfire was really a great one. Every one is very high on that day and I could feel that they had really enjoyed themselves.

But it was little pity that we did not have outdoor campfire because outdoor campfire have more space and we could have the real fire but indoor campfirewas also not bad as we could enjoy the air-conditioner and would notperspire profusely.

We also had enough time for our campfire preparation compared to last yearso we could produce good quality work. Really have to thank Bishan ParkScout for helping the gateway as compare to them we really have lessstrenght to tie the gateway. But I think on the campfire, they behaved a little too enthusiatic cos they did not care about their safety and justrunning around the fire.

About the sec 3 dance, they were really fantastic cos they really dancedvery well. The sec 2 dance compared to them was definitely less interestingbut I had to say that the sec 2 dancers had put in their heart and effortfor this dance. I admited that I danced horribly but I really had done my best!

The Mc should improve on controlling the campfire as the campfire appearedto be a bit out of control as many andersonian were running recklessly around the hall but they also did a good job.

In conclusion, this year campfire was a successful one!

Basically, I do not know how to express my reflections in words. But practically, as what they said, "The indoor campfire was a great success." which I also agree as this is my first campfire that was indoor and its was the best indoor campfire as compared to other schools. Sorry, but no offence to other schools. Or maybe I have not seen those better than our campfire 2007?? But from my 1.67 (3 s.f.) years in guiding, it is a fact.

About my patrol (KF2), which is i/c of souveniers, from the outerappearance, its looks simple and easy to do. But in actual fact it difficuktlorh. Can go try, but CAUTION! do with adult supervision as you need to usethe fire to melt the candlle wax gel.

In conclusion, I LIKE THE INDOOR CAMPFIRE 2007 JOIE DEVIVRE!(:

CAMPFIRE 2007 - Joie De Vivre :D

This year's campfire have definitely been the best one for sure, and muchmore memorable as this is our sec 3 batch's campfire night. The long and ardious journey that all of us endured paid off well! We sure did aguides proud, and perhaps gained that little bit of respect thatwe needed from our fellow ccas grp in anderson.

This year's theme was Joie De Vivre, which actually is a very vague term! So designing became an issue, but still managed and designed a superchio (pretty) swing programme board. I really appreciate my fellow sec 3s and of course, my new patrol, Oriole1st. You guys or rather GIRLS are the best! Though I complain whenever you people slack but I know that all of you and ME really did put in our 100% effort. :D (esp me.. nah kidding) Daxaniie, Christine, Samantha, Chengyee, Siti and of course Manisha, thanks forsupporting and being willing to stay back after sch despite all the busy schedules that you all have. ORIOLE 1ST YAY!!!

Okay campfire night was really fun, was a pity that it has to be indoors. But hey, if you've noticed, indoors campfire's are the bombzx! At least that's what been proved for the past 3 years. It did dampen our moods but we still did it in the end! After months of prep, all was gone in a night but what there is still thememories part. Even if nobody knew all the hard work we have done, as long as we know thats already very good.

Some things I have learnt are that as long as we set our minds to do it, wewill definitely accomplish it. And being a PL is actually not that easy, for the past years I have neverreally treasured my ex-PLs, but after campfire, I will remember the things they did for us even more than ever. And friends are really important, Kailing!!! Thanks for helping us alot (although you're 'obliged' to, haha)
